[FO:NV] Western character

So I figured on this playthough Id try and be a western shooter (really original...I know) anyways here are the guns I was thinking of. I narrowed it down to 2 or 3 types of ammunition.


Bush gun as my med. long range gun with high power
Mysterious magnum as my revolver
A hunting shotgun


But I still need a long range gun with a scope.
Dont want to use a sniper rifle so I was thinking either a hunting rifle w/ scope or Trail carbine w/ scope. I dont have the scopes right now and I cant find pictures of the zoom on them but does the trail carbine have a good scope? or is it just a short range POS with crosshairs?

Also any other suggestions for what I should use?

You're not going to use Ranger Sequoia? I guess maybe you are worried about ammo, not sure. You can steal casings from NCR Veteran Rangers even while you are detected, as it is a 0 value item.

Probably with the next patch, Brush Gun will be one of the better guns available for Guns character, with the sniper rifle nerf. I'm pretty sure you are going to take the Cowboy perk, so its going to be even more powerful.

Yea I like the brush gun.


I figured since the Sequoia uses the same ammo as the brush gun and since the .45-70 uses large rifle primers while the .44 uses Large pistol primers it would make it easier to keep ammo for both.

Plus I dont like the way the sequoia looks lol.

I'm sure you will put some points into survival (since you want to role play a western shooter), so make sure you have ability to boost your survival to 60 to get the schematics from Jules in North Vegas.

Even with hand loader perk, you need to get the schematics from him to get it to show up on the reloading bench.

Not sure whether the next patch will fix or not.

Yea my first playthough I never got my repair up high enough to get that but I figured it be good on this one.
