This reminds me of the time my friend was trying to beat through Halo 1 on Legendary, and on the part where you have to fight through all of the Flood, then go up into the Covenant ship, he got a checkpoint right as one of the exploding Flood laid down, then exploded and he would die. As SOON as he would restart the checkpoint, it was already on the ground, he'd see it explode, and he would die. I thought it was hilarious, but he didn't. He had to restart the entire level.

A similar thing happened to me in Halo 3. We were going for the Annual achievement, and we were at the last part of the final level where you ride on ghosts. When I was going off a jump, I accidentally went in the wrong direction, getting myself killed. We got a checkpoint right when I was going over the jump. Everyone was really pissed, but luckily after about 20 times, the game must have felt sorry for us. Instead of the game loading that checkpoint, it loaded the one before it.

Happened to me in Mass Effect. I was in that stage where there was lava and you had to drive the Mako around. Touching the lava with the Mako results in an instant death. I didn't watch where I was going (since I was in a rush) so I was pressing the boost button, boosting me into the air. Right before I landed I saved my game, and when the game resumed, I landed on the lava. I had to restart the whole level.

Happened to me in the first Halo, the game saved as soon as my friend fell off the elevator and it was Legendary so it reverted to the last save.

Yeah, watching the beginning of that vid, I thought he was going to get caught in a spot with the behemoth killing him.
