I just pulled some sort of shiny splinter out of my finger. I can't figure out if it is a mini shard of metal, or a piece of glitter. No idea how it got there or how long its been there.

how in the hell did you accomplish getting a metal splinter!? lol

it can happen. you just need to be in a place where metal is being cut.

I dunno. Maybe from a slicer at work? No idea. lol. Maybe it was glitter? But I'm not sure if that can imbed itself in you skin.

yep, I still have graphite from a pencil I jammed into my hand 15 years ago.

Seriously, I thought the whole thing came out, but I've had this gray mark in my hand for that long. I'm not sure if it colored that part of my skin like a tattoo, or if their is a piece of pencil in there.

I have 4 things of graphite stuck in my right hand from 5th grade. One in the middle of the palm(that one FUCKING HURT!! GAH!!), one right at the bottem of my index finger, and two right above the wrist.

I never paid attention during math class, so I used to make a habit of tossing my pencils in the air. I missed a few times and they embedded themselves in my skin. But that one that is in my palm, that shit hurt the most.
I still remember how it happened.

I tossed my pencil in the air, and missed,and it came slamming down on my table making a bit of noise. I panicked and slammed my hand down to stop it, only at that exact moment it decided to land on the eraser and stand at a 90% angle. Of course thats when I slammed my hand down right on it, and it stabbed my palm.

That shit bled like crazy too. But it hurt so damn bad I started crying and fell to the ground grasping my hand.

How does graphite get STUCK in you? Doesn't it fall out or something?

There is still a gray spot where I got stabbed with a pencil in Junior high on my finger. That shit doesn't come out, I tried picking it all out when it was fresh but it was stuck in too much.

It probably involves a little bit of the pencil snapping off inside the body.

My dad has wood chips in his arm. He was cutting down a tree and a branch fell off and part of it ended up in his arm. At the ER they took most of it out but couldnt get it all. Then in Yellowstone one year we stayed in a cabin that had really high pressure showers and some wood chips got pushed out of his arm.

I have some pencil lead in my hand also. Right in the crease of my ring finger

my grandpa has a funny story... he got a pencil eraser stuck in his nose when he was like 9 or something...

10 years later when he was in the navy in ww2, he sneezed, and an old eraser came out of his nose onto the ships deck! haha, pretty gross.

You know if you are really curious about what it is and you still have the splinter laying around put it up to a magnet. (Although you probably already threw it away) If its metal it will likely be magnetic.

It disappeared. I dropped it while examining it.

At least my finger has finally stopped hurting.
