Haha, yeah, glorious Nippon fucks everything up. Earlier on /v/, some dude posted a manga about an actual murder of some chick. She was kidnapped, brutally totrtured, and then encased in concrete and stuffed in a barrel outside Kyoto. Dude made a manga about it. I'm not beating off for weeks.

I read that wikipedia article.
Fucking disgusting.

But as for the manga, are you saying that they sexualized it, or romanticized it in some way? Or was it more of a non-fiction retelling of what actually happened, turned into comic-form?

Just curious. I know about the Japanese and their strange kinks. I just wonder if they would go that far, because I don't want to believe it.

There are all sorts of works of art in literature and film that depict not-so-pleasant events. When they're fiction, it's not as disturbing. When they're non-fiction, they're quite shocking. I don't know. I don't see why something like that shouldn't be retold, as long as it includes the punishment of the crimes, or explores the emotional consequences of the events portrayed.

I don't know. Would it be better to not make it into a novel of sorts? Would it be better if the crime was completely ignored? There have been films made dramatizing real-life serial killers like John Wayne Gacy. Maybe those films INSPIRED a couple people here and there, but for the most part, it's more of a warning to the rest of the human race that there are fuckheads out there who are willing to commit such barbarous acts.

I don't know. Murderous sociopaths will always exist, and there's nothing you or anyone else can do about it. Whether they read the manga or not, they will be what they are. But for those on the cusp, such things could be used to teach a lesson.

To ignore history is irresponsible.

I don't know; I haven't seen it, or read it for myself. If it's romanticized, then yeah, it's sick as fuck, I agree. It just depends on the way it's depicted, really.

Well neither am I, but I won't say that art based on true events is not legit.

Yeah neither Am i Bad Stuff Happens in Life and Art Imitates Life

Its just that Cartoonizing a Brutal Event like that just seems wrong

In Japan, cartoons and comics (as we call them in English-speaking countries) are not always necessarily directed towards children and teens.

It does seem wrong, I will agree, that someone produced this and made money off of it...

But looking at it from a Japanese perspective, manga and anime are as legit as any novel or film.

It's no different than true-to-life retellings like Alpha Dog, In Cold Blood, or any of the various horror movies based on true events, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Psycho.

Quit Arguing im trying to push my Anti-Manga Incentive!

Also I agree with you but i dont really like Graphic Novels based on Events like these Either

They just dont Express the Mood right and Especially in Manga sooner or later the Artist is going to try and slip a joke in
