Even when we were coming out of the ice age the planet wasnt warming as fast as it is now. dont think of it as heat, think of it as atmospheric entropy, which leads to more humidity in the air in some places and less in others ---> droughts and floods. 4 years ago, there was an international consortium of climate scientists, geologists, meteorologists, chemists, etc. who all met , and 100% agreed that climate change is a result of there being more CO, CO2, Methane, and other greenhouse gasses in the air. The US is pretty much the last place on the planet where there is a sizable amount of people who dont believe in this science. The US is also the only country in the world where oil companies have been running billion dollar stealth campaigns to spread rumors that climate change is a myth...
so much for me not saying anything.
Sorry, I'm just the most opinionated jerk on earth:
Another problem with the U.S. is that we let corporations run amok. You see it with the tax-dodging stuff I was talking about earlier. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United vs. the FEC, basically that corporations could contribute to political campaigns. Basically, our politicians are being elected by the corporations, and not the people. This isn't new; lobbyists and politicians have had their hands in each others' pockets for years. But this is just further proof that we're no longer in control of our country.
BTW, Frost, I say tax that rich 1% because it's for the good of the many, rather than the few. What do they need seven Italian sports cars for, anyway? They're just going to use their wealth to make more wealth for themselves. That's what corporations do; they're only concerned with profit. The man at the top collects a huge chunk of that, which is an amount completely unnecessary for a person to live on. Meanwhile, we're in debt to China by $X,XXX,XXX,XXX some dollars, which if you just took enough from each of these greedy sons-of-bitches, would be a negligeable amount to them.
...and these corporations, in pursuit of the almighty dollar are allowed to exploit third world countries and fuck up their ecosystems.
I guess I sound like a socialist, but that's what today's world has come to, for me.
