But this is bullshit. The whole physical portion of the military for women is like half of what the men are required to do. Equal rights my ass. It should not be different, especially in something that could get you killed. I looked at the running times, and the women have to run about 2 minutes slower than men. That is grade A BS. Right now, I'd rather have all men in my squad cause at least I would know if they can't do something life saving, then I can't. I would trust women more if they would have to run the same and have to do the same thing as the men.

Yes. They are. Right now. I think the only things women can't do is be a tankard or be in a sub.

Last I checked, they can. It might've changed. But the fact of the matter is. You don't need to just be on the front lines to be fired upon.

The sexist in me wants a meat shield of women for a frontline, but the horny romantic wants those girls safe and sound at home.

Women are physically less good at atheltics than men. They're just not built that way. Maybe two minutes is a bit of a stretch but women are not physically the same as men. Hell, there are guys in my school who have like less than a second of worse time than record holding female olympians.

I'm not saying all men are just naturally stronger than women but it's definitely much easier for men to reach the same point in strength than women.

Female bodies haven't had to be muscular for the past (all of history), due to the traditional gender roles. That means women are never usually over-buff, haven't needed to be especially strong in context of traditional roles around the world, and generally speaking, just aren't used to the level of exercise that the male part of society has been used to for the past (all of history).

If things had been different, if female soldiers actually existed in ancient times, it would have been more socially acceptable to train and exercise as male soldiers do.

Sexism is the reason why there is such a large gap in the roles. It's only starting to change. If this keeps up, a few decades or centuries down the line, male and female soldiers might have the same requirements, if sexism doesn't flare up again.

It's not really social expectations as much as it's just that biologically women just aren't as muscular. A girl can train and work out all she wants but if a man put in the same amount of effort as her, he would come out stronger. It's the same as how a male and female bird are different colors or male and female elephants are larger or taller. Male and female bodies just aren't the same and haven't adapted to the same purposes that each other have.

Israel does it. Why can't we?

I personally would have more trouble with women in the army than homosexuals. Simply because I would feel some need to compensate/protect those women in my unit. I'm an old school gentleman and I couldn't fight the nature I have to be nice and helpful to women...... especially the pretty ones

Same here. I even hold doors open for them.

I'm sure some of the ladies here. or around the world would crucify me for saying it but its true. I couldn't stand the thought of seeing one of them hurt or dying

This- There is a reason they aren't required to do the same physically. Seriously........... Theres no way even the best woman athlete could match even a man in good shape in any physical activity. Its just the way they are built man. Plus women ARE NOT allowed into active combat roles. The answer for this should be obvious. Your not gonna have a woman in the trenches with you avoiding death, so the point is moot.

Clearly, the unit escorting Iron Guy wasn't a "combat" unit. It seems quite obvious that they weren't expecting any trouble at all, else he would've been transported in a Stryker with Apache escort.
