I need a new shooter

I think I'm done with Crysis 2. I've unlocked almost everything and I just cannot handle the in-game hit lag anymore. I now nominate Crysis 2 for online shooter with the "worst programming ever" award. It's to bad because it's also one of the most fun shooters ever when it actually works right.

Done with BC2. Done with Homefront. Done with Black Ops. Done with Section 8. Done with Shadowrun. Not even gonna bother with portal co-op...

I'm about ready to stoop as low as Killzone 3, but I'm hoping some of you can recommend another shooter?

I was thinking Fear 3, but I don't think it has objective or death match modes does it? I don't want to cooperate with anyone if I don't have to and I certainly don't want to use my mic.

Any suggestions people?

I've heard it's much better than the first which I thought sucked (single and multi). It would have actually been ok if it didn't have the worst FPS controls ever paired with the PS3 controller.

I spent $80 on a mouse controller for the PS3 just to try to make KZ2 playable and while it was a bit better it was still far from good.

Done with that one too. Easily over 100 hours invested in it. It's the game that made me buy BC2 (I wasn't to fond of BC1...).

There must be something... I don't care about single player, rarely even try it. I just want to shoot people online.

Maybe I will try Fear. Except I only want it for MP. I don't want to bother with the story. Aaargh!

Yeah it released on Live arcade early last year (I think?)
I absolutely loved it. Only 3 maps and 3 classes. Basically a very simplified BC2 in WWII.

Nope played enough of the Gears games.

I'm looking over Live Arcade games now... Maybe I'll just buy Trenched. I'm not a big tower defense guy but the trial game was fun.

Duke Nukem has a vs. multiplayer. Capture the babe, duke match, and a few others modes I think.

Not sure if you'll like it or not though. The reviews of it have been mixed to say the least... Soap liked it but I don't think he said anything about the MP.

I was gonna say play BC1 if you haven't already. You could try getting into Halo 3 or Halo Reach (they're both really different online). There's Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, but I liked the singleplayer better than multiplayer. There's also Battlefield 2 Modern Combat. I don't know if the servers are still up on X360 but it was really fun on PS2 back in the day.

That game Breach might have cleared up by now too.

Fear 3 is bad ass, but not if your going to just play it for the MP. Its mostly co-op, but there are competitive modes. its damn good fun IMO. But the Fear games have always been about the story. The shooting mechanics are second to none.

Killzone 3 is alot of fun. But its nothing amazing.

Im loving trenched, but its not really a shooter. The MP is only co op, but I havent tried it yet. More people need to buy it!

Well you didn't list halo 3 so i'll say that. I can't speak for halo reach but halo 3 is a gem for multiplayer.

Yeah I've already done the Halos and I don't think I want to step back to any older games although I've heard good things about Rainbow Six V2.

Modern combat I didn't really like. I forgot about Breach. Actually now that I think about it I may own Breach and never played it, I'll have to check.

Breach had that horrid lag that made it unplayable don't know if they fixed it but the game can't be doing well.

Bulletstorm has a horde mode but no competitive MP.

Breach's gamefaqs board is dead so the community may be sparse.

I will personally vouch for this one. Relatively good community and it's a fair bit different than other current shooters. Communication is nonessential unless you're playing Team Leader.

Haven't tried them all yet, but the Platformance games are fucking awesome. The Corrupted one seems really cool, but locked my system up a few minutes in. The Abaddon one also seemed really good, but also locked my system.

Zombies Pterodactyls is a multiplayer shooter that is supposed to be awesome. I'll try that one next.

Are you into 3rd person shooters? If so check out Vanquish (shameless plug). You should be able to find it cheap used.

Yeah, Vanquish is really a one-of-a-kind game. Really fun and fast paced, but a bit short. Platinum games really deserves more credit (Madworld, Bayonneta, Vanquish) then they get.

What about Rainbow Six Vegas 2...quite a few still play surprisengly. and of course you can not foret Transformers: War for Cybertron and TF2 is now free soooo

I can also vouch. Amazing game for like... 10 bucks.

RSV2 was a let down to me. I enjoyed the first one a lot more. T-hunts are a blast. I never get tired of them.
