So...apparently Beta 1.8 ISN'T coming out today/this month(maybe?)

Well, Notch said Beta 1.8 would be out this month...each update since around Beta 1.1-1.2 has come out on a Thursday, and usually the last Thursday of the month. Now...I know it's only 1:04, but usually the update ALSO would have been out by now (it's later where Notch is now, I'm pretty sure). So, unless it's out by what I would say around 4:00 PM, the update is coming out later, or Notch isn't going to put it out until next month....

I'm pretty sure it's not coming out until mid-September.

I don't know why it would take him so long to make one patch, it should only take a month per patch regardless. If it's going to be a little ridiculous, he should split it into two patches, and also not say that it would be out within the month.

You realize the scope of this patch right? It's a complete overhaul of the game. Not just a couple new blocks and a new mob.

Yeah, it's supposed to be pretty good, but it still drives me crazy when it's announced that it'll be done soon, then it doesn't come out. I planned on actually being able to move on the Zapto server soon, and not to play MineCraft on servers until 1.8 because a lot of servers will be resetting their maps. I don't care how long it takes, it's just the fact that it was announced to be done by the end of the month, so I haven't played on servers, anticipating the 1.8 release, so I've lost valuable development time on the game, or just a way to pass time on other servers while I wait for a reset. I wish he would just give a better estimate on release dates.

he announced for sometime soon...soon is like 1-3 months. But it will probably be out in September or November which is the release date for full minecraft...so yeah
