Today at EA's Gamescom 2013 press conference, DICE officially confirmed that the Battlefield 4 beta will begin in October.

The Battlefield 4 Beta was announced way back in 2012. Beta access was granted with the purchase of Medal of Honor Warfighter, with more ways of getting in promised. As of now specific beta details have not yet been revealed.




Battlefield 4's launch date has previously been pegged for October 29, seeming to make this a very short multiplayer beta - almost acting more as a sneak peek or early access period.

As always, IGN will have much more on Battlefield 4, including details on its multiplayer classes, in the coming weeks.

It's not much of a beta if the game is released 2 weeks later, is it? Seems more like a demo. What could DICE possibly do in 2-3 weeks after getting data from the beta?

Last minute bugs for a day 1 or week 1 patch. But much more importantly, a free preview for people on the fence.

As long as the "beta" isn't riddled with bugs, people on the fence will be able to get a good taste of what they can possibly get. So it's more like an advertisement than anything else.

Then again, "DICE" and "problem free game launches" have a weird interaction with each other.

Yep. Maybe they won't be able to fix any problems for day one, but it'll still give them data they need to fix problems sooner.

Hopefully it won't be like the BF3 beta. That one actually put me off buying the game <_<

supposedly according to battlelog I did,but I pre ordered one on another site anyway,I'll prob give that one to my bro if it indeed gives it to me for free,but I figure it should of popped in my library as a pre order or something at least,but nothing
