Holy shit. It's obvious that it's not finished, and they still have a lot to take care of, but could this be the new graphic style to be used in the future, once it's fully developed?

Mega awesome. Thanks for that man! This kind of stuff really excites me for the future.

Damn.

Amazing. Can't really say much else about it, except for I can't wait to see it in action in games.

Indeed, I can't wait to see it in actual work, but I fear it will take plenty of years before it takes off. For one, it still needs a lot of work, I'm sure. And then, I have no clue how much must be invested in order to get developers to use it and manufacturers to produce hardware to handle it.

But just imagine the processing power needed to move all of the atoms that compose 1 body. Maybe this tech won't take off, maybe it will, who knows? But the ideas it comes with are mind blowing. I feel it will be like the change from 2D sprites to 3D polygons.

Holy fucking shit. That looks beautiful. I am at odds though. Once we have that tech in games, would we be able to go back to polygons?

Ars Diaboli

If we have that and it works, AND it's accessible to the average consumer, what would be the point of going back to polygons though?

Playing the great games of the past. Would we be able to?

Oh, you mean like backwards compatibility? Or using a PC, for example, capable of using that technology, but playing say, Bad Company 2.

Well... that's an interesting question. I have no clue, since there probably needs to be a deep understanding of how video cards work. Which I don't have Very Happy

I'm guessing that there would be a point in time in which a good video card today will be almost like, integrated into your GPU (Maybe like AMD's APU?), which could take care of that and let you play past games, while your new video card is dedicated to this new tech.

Neat...

I couldn't really tell from the video how much of a difference there is... I mean the concept is cool, but from what they did with it, it didn't seem much better than the current standard.

it takes up way too much data......And true, doesn't look much better than current stuff. With advances in the Unreal and Crysis engine,we'll be alright

could you imagine this stuff on either a red faction game or battle field game

The main point of the video is that objects don't look "square" like they do in games nowadays. If the tech can evolve enough, get better lighting, etc. once you put a good artist there, it could be incredible. The level of detal achieved could be way higher than what we have nowadays.

On ther other side, I'm not knowledgeable on the field, so I'm not sure what to think after reading Notch's post. I guess it's just wait and see.

I wasn't meaning backwards compatibility. I was meaning would you be able to go back and play polygon games after playing an unlimited one? The shear change in graphics could actually give you a migraine.

Yes. This is a scam.

If that is real that seems like a bit of overkill. We can't even see in that much detail...

I think there will be a demand for better graphics up until the point where it looks exactly like real life.

If graphics ever get to that place, I fear for our future. If you think people are fat a lazy now, my
God imagine what they would look like if all the computer games had graphics like that. The people on the spaceship Axiom from WALL-E come to my mind. What enterprising people should do is buy up some undeveloped property and create places for kids and adults to have real adventures. Not some lame ass amusement park or paintball course or something like that, but a place that could be set up to host different game-types from week to week . Offer up door prizes and special incentives for the players. If there was a place I
could go to have that kind of experience, I would only touch an XBOX or PC on
rare occasions. Of course this is just something to think about.
It's not like I sit around all day at work and think of weird shit all day because I'm bored or anything. No, not at all. No
