i wish that i didn't have to hold down so many damn buttons in order to scan the entire planet, why can't EDI do that shit for me? it's still kind of fun, though, i like it when i hit a really big mineral spike, makes me all giddy.

I didn't mind for the first play-through. Thank god they give you those bonus minerals for subsequent play-throughs, though. Still, you end up having to scan for platinum and paladium near the end-game.

Pootip - 'feather' the scanning trigger (like firing a pistol). It makes the planet rotate faster.

I got a save game editor and always just give myself 999,999 of all the minerals. I did it legit once, never again.

Protip: Turn both stick to the right. Makes it at least 20% faster.

I 100% scanned very planet in the game. I wasn't happy I got nothing for doing this.

I found it better than having to drive that f'ed up mako over every planet to find minerals.

I never had any problem driving the Mako. Just don't jump on inclines, unless descending. Any peak can be climbed with a zig-zag route.
It drives much like a BF tank; LS to steer, RS to aim (iirc).

I liked the Mako. I just didn't like how barren the planets were.
At least the Mako felt like you were exploring something...

One of the most tedious things in a game. It doesn't beat getting the flags in AC1, or the thermos in Alan Wake though.

At least you get upgrades... but damn, scanning was boring.

i kinda liked the Mako, i don't know why there is so much hate for it. i certainly liked it better than the stupid Hammerhead, i hate that thing with a passion.
