I'm thinking about getting one...my pc is way too big and heavy and I think it would be cool to have a portable one. Currently have the big cooler master haf xm ~25+pounds and I thought about getting the Corsair 230t case which is about less than half the weight and mid tower which would help which I guess I could try.........if not, I might scrap it all and go mini itx, although it seems decent power supplies are pretty slim for mini itx

any big cons for mini itx? ...all I can think of is possibly heat

Do you lug your desktop everywhere you go? I don't see the point if you already have a PC. If you need portability, get a laptop. Can you even fit a full size video card in an ITX case? What about CPU coolers?

I was actually just on newegg yesterday to find some parts for a mini itx build. I wanted one for all my music needs. I use my laptop now for that, but porn has turned it into a cesspool and I don't have room on my desk for both my laptop and my desktop monitor/keyboard/mouse.

You know I have been looking at porn for YEEAARRS. And I mean, I could look on some weird site.

I am proud of myself, never once have I ruined a laptop or computer!!
Yet my friend one bricked a computer downloading a wallpaper of a girl without a top  Very Happy

My rig is ITX. You can fit a full size GPU if you get the right case. I also don't have issues with heat. I'm sure it gets hotter than if I had a full size rig but I have a decent amount of fans and airflow in my case plus a H100i for the cpu.

The big cons would be increased heat (depends on the case) I guess and very cramped workspace when putting it together. Other than that I can't think of many downsides.

Link to specs here. Post #3 http://www.speakeasyclinic.com/t17476-pc-parts-are-here I've since added a sapphire 7970 GHz. A 2.5 slot card fits in my case. I've also seen people fit titans in the same case which are quite long cards.

I stand corrected about fitting the video card! I still don't see the point if you already have a perfectly functional desktop already.

I thought about the prodigy, may end up getting that.

I was just more or less looking for a much smaller case that was lightweight, and could hopefully fit the cooler master hyper 212 evo which is 160mm tall, probably moving to a house soon and wanted something more portable.

Since I'm planning to pack lightly, all my stuff can more or less fit in one of those big tubbleware storage containers. My motherboard is micro atx.

I saw some smallish silverstone but it only takes those slim laptop dvd drives and screw paying more than about 15 bucks for a dvd drive haha

I'm considering it, but it depends on what happens in the next few months. I may be moving around a lot later, and a gaming laptop is not something I want unless it's so fucking good that it has good battery time (5 hours at least, for work), light, and powerful. Basically, the gaming laptop I would buy doesn't exist.

I had to sacrifice an optical drive to fit the H100i rad in the roof of my build. I guess that's another con. I don't really miss it though. I installed windows from a formatted USB stick. Haven't really had any other uses for a DVD drive pop up.

I am seriously considering building mini ITX or some sort of SFF system with my remaining 3770K and Titan.

Well, maybe not Titan, since I am giving it pretty much away for my sister. And despite how much I love my sister, I don't think she will EVER see the benefit of Titan. LoL

The problem is that its LGA 1155 platform, which is becoming harder and harder to find in my area.
