So I just bought this sombitch: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FreeAgent-Ultra-Portable-External-STAA1000101/dp/B0045JLPMO/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1314039333&sr=1-2

And it's a fucking piece of shit.

Hopefully I can return it but probably not since its opened...

In the off chance that I can, does anyone know of any that they've had good luck with? I need something that works with my 360(it doesn't recognize this one, maybe because of USB 3.0? My dad has an NTSF one that it does recognize.) and something that doesn't disconnect when you touch the cable. And one that actually saves the files you put on it.

ive had good luck with the Maxtor HDD's.

all my itunes songs are backed up on a Maxtor, its damn reliable and pretty small.

i got a my book by western digital, 1TB of storage, 16GB had to sectioned off for xbox use, but it works really well, just make sure you set it up for your xbox before you use for anything else

Is your western digital one USB 3.0 or 2.0?

I'm wondering if the Xbox even recognizes 3.0 at the moment. It's supposed to be backwards compatible with everything but for some reason it's not recognizing mine.

I think it's 2.0

I have a 1TB Fantom GreenDrive that I've had for maybe 2 years that I've had no problems out of.

Here's a link to their direct buy page with all 7 models listed:

I have a Seagate and it's worked fine for me for a couple of years. Could the one you have be broken?

It could be broken, the box actually had a cut on the side of it when I got it. My dad has a seagate too and it works fine, but this particular one is reviewed pretty low on amazon.

I'm gonna go return it now and see what happens with that.

another good HDD is the ICY Box, my parents have one each. pretty solid and compact.

I ended up just getting a Western Digital My Passport. It works with the Xbox although it says it doesn't meat performance standards(which I'm guessing just means slower load times if I'm running games off it).

Luckily the return went smoothly, they didn't force me to get the same one or even get another one at all.
