Why can't people learn?

I have an idea! How about from now on, whenever you post something, you give it more than 0 seconds of thought! So when you think a post may create some conflict, maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't post it! Crazy idea right!?! Maybe, if we had followed that rule on my topic, it might not be dead!

BTW, don't respond to this. This is a one-way announcement. I had a thread completely derailed because of dramatic bullshit. This made me think though. Hey Epyk, could you make it so that people have mod powers on topics they create?

I don't want this to go any further, but I've let it slide too many times. I've usually been one of those that tried to cool down the situation. Including this time. But when my thread was derailed via drama, that was the last straw. That kind of BS goes against everything this forum is about. There's no way in hell I'm leaving SeC over this but all this shit has to stop.

i doubt it will peavs, we had less rules when we started. that went bad quick, then we went all modwhore up in here and that turned bad.

now were are a "work it out yourselves" place...which makes me want to take SeC off the interwebs for 12 hours in a passive aggressive display of my annoyance of the continued drama less than the other two did

Peavs- your clearly new to this place. Grow some thicker skin and everybody will all be happy. Everybody in this entire forum has had many threads derailed for every possible reason. It happens.

Probably the best way to solve this: 72 hour IP ban on whomever participates in drama. The next 48 hours after that, they can PM and view topics. 48 hours after that, probation. You're closely supervised and if you cause any problems, you start this whole process over.

I think this might be worth a shot because: it allows everyone in the forum to rant and vent without pissing off the banned parties. It then allows some time for the offenders to see what's been happening and make amends with the members via PMs. Then we just make sure they don't screw up and have really cooled off.

I put some serious thought into this and I really do think it's worth a shot. Maybe with some adjusted times or penalties for re-offending.

Imagine once again this place is a fish bowl and we the fish. You make a nice little fish bowl (thread) that may or may not derail into a fish bowl party(Standard Sec Procedure). Now say you went through the trouble to decorate and buy chips and punch for said fish bowl gathering only to have 2 or more fish start beating the crap out of each other (drama) and now the punch table is broken, the chips have been smashed into the shag carpeting. Someone ripped the streamers down. GM is standing on the table with his dirty yet fashionable boots. No more party...



Not only did everything you put into creating the thread go to waste but now the police just broke down your door and your standing in your front lawn by the police tape wondering how much if any will be left when it's done.



Yes...this is most likely unavoidable in the long run and we should all accept it. But that doesnt make it any less annoying when it happens to you.



Summary:

In my opinion it is better in the long run to listen to his problem and work together to fix it than for everyone to take the easy way out and tell him to suck it up. Even if the suck it up answer holds truth, it isn't that easy when the problem is in your face.

Pariah, I know you IRL, and really this isn't the best time to be joining the argument. E Hat hit it right on the head. Derailment is fine and usually a good thing on here. The problem is this happens too much and it isn't just something where we should just ignore it and move on because it keeps happening. We all know eachother here to some degree. We have to see the same people over and over again.

tl;dr

If a stranger on the street comes up in your face and screams at you, most will go WTF? and leave the area.

If a friend or a group of friends constantly fights, you grow tired of it and at some point this kind of behavior needs to be stopped.

No, the point here was to step away from that topic and ask WTF? Why does this keep happening? Why do people have to participate in this stuff?

Mostly because people get all po'd and rage at eachother. If people thought about what would happen before they post, this stuff would happen less frequently. Thats all. I don't care anymore about that topic. But this has been happening way too frequently recently and this BS seems to break out once a week.
