i would say this is in the mid dark range.
something like gamefaqs is lighter.

stay with this colour scheme. All he soft flowing shades are really easy on the eyes, and the black and grey looks awesome.

ok, so im thinking...

keep the grey/black ratios
make the background customizable.
make the red areas customizable through theme selector.

then at a later date introduce lighter themes.

Darker???? It seems pretty dark to me now. I think its fine now. I wouldn;t go much darker.

this actually sounds fucking awesome. If you made the red areas completely colour-open, i think I'd faint.
