...on account of Trials Evolution, only to see a huge increase of disconnects when playing BF3.

While they could be unrelated, the timing is suspicious, and if this is the cause, then what the fuck gives?

I have no idea,Open NAT is supposed to be the best,and it's what I've always had and only when EA is being a bitch does it disconnect me lol. Hmm maybe something in the router?All that technical stuff with routers fried my brain dude....different brand of routers can be totally different and have minds on their own...mine's a netgear...used to have sucky linksys one and it was horrible,no matter what I did it wouldn't have an open nat

It wouldn't really make sense for open NAT to give you more disconnections. The whole making the NAT open is to make it so you can connect to more people easier.

Strict or open, it shouldn't have anything to do with disconnections if you're already completely connected to the match.

I should probably know more about it but I don't.

How did you open your nat? Did you use DMZ?

Forwarded ports, set up static IP for the Xbox...etc.

Didn't need to do the DMZ thing though.

DMZ is actually just a lot easier and does the same thing. Anyways have you tried undoing the port forwarding and seeing if you get the same disconnects? Could just be your connection or a bad server.

I know it does the same, but I was interested in learning the basics of forwarding ports and such. I also don't think it's my connection as I don't have a problem with any other game and the server was a frequented one. It was probably just one of those days.

Wouldn't make sense for port forwarding to cause a problem, that only opens up more ports.

Only thing I could think of is that you assigned your Xbox a bad static IP(one that something else on your network already has), but that would only make sense if this happened with all games.

So yeah most likely one of those days, but if it keeps happening maybe something was configured wrong. Weird problems can arise with networking.
