Upgraded armor piercing frag grenades are awesome. Still running bronze mode until I can get some decent upgrades for my rifles and such, but the Mattock and the Scimitar shotgun make a very nice combo.
The grenades usually are enough to take care of the larger foes without too much of a hassle though I suspect that won't be the case as I get into silver and gold mode.
