Going to require a 680 for maximum performance!

Geez. Looks like Storm will be the only one playing this game on High.

I just prefer Nvidia

Ive always used them in my rigs, and have had great luck with them.

Thats really the only reason

well games are usually better optimized for Nvidia cards so there's that. And I believe there are less compatibility issues with Nvidia...not 100% on that one though.

I very rarely ever have driver issues with Nvidia, so there is that.

ah.The 7950 and 660ti were both the same price, 299 when I checked,so I just figured the free games with the AMD would be nice lol.

also I heard the 7950 would be better future proofed because of it's 386bit bus compared to the 660ti's 192 bus,and the 7950 has 3gb of space vs 2gb on the 660ti I believe

I got the i5 3750k,with the intel 4000 graphics. Was watching vids on it yesterday like for skyrim, and even on low,it'll get like 35 or so FPS,and the textures and lighting looks soooo much better than on xbox

I imagine once you take off some DirectX11 effects it will be easier to run.

I mean Metro 2033 runs like shit on a 670 if you have advanced DOF and PhysX on.

The DX11 effects and advanced PhysX are what really kills the performance, do you have those on?

It runs smoothly for me with those off(tessalation still on though) and ultra high settings, but once I turn them on the NPCs have really glitchy movement and the camera doesn't move very smoothly at all, very significant FPS drops.

I did have DX11 and PHSYX on

Its been a year since I played it though, so I dont remember exactly what kind of frames I was getting. But if I remember correctly it was mid 40's. Which was solid considering what a resource hog Metro is.

I did turn something off to get 60 fps, but cant remember what it was. Just remember I almost had that bitch maxed with my 580.

I could always run it again and benchmark it

it looked nice for me at low settings at like 35fps or something haha Razz.I'll be blown away when I get my real graphics card.

looking forward to the new metro too....was supposed to come out this month but got delayed till like March 10th.It's only 45 bucks I saw for pre order on amazon too, cheap pc games ftw Razz

Hm, I'm actually getting like 45 FPS normally with everything on. Once I turn off PhysX and DOF I get over a hundred(and I just now noticed that the game had no vsync).

I swear though the people walking was all buggy and stuff with everything on. Maybe a 30FPS lock would help, I think nvidia's control panel has an option for that.

If trying to use Vsync in Dx games, you should be using triple buffering using D3DOverider anyway, which provides forced Vsync as an option.

As for the 680 for the full option, I think Crytek is being lazy on the optimization again, or the new engine FAR excels the capability of the CryEngine 3. From what I have seen so far (whether the video was console or not), and from Crysis 2, the whole franchise has gone down a crap path of consolization.

If I did go nvidia I would probably go for the 670....reading,some have said the 660ti is in a weird spot,50 bucks more than the 660.....50bucks cheaper than the 670(which I heard is much stronger but I haven't looked much up on it)....they said why not just spend 50 more for the 670 Razz

I don't know what D3DOverider is, how do?

D3DOverrider is a 3rd party application that was installed, but not utilized, with RivaTuner back in the days when overclocking or monitoring GPU was at a primitive state.

You have to install RivaTuner and extract a folder in there that contains it. Just to save the trouble, I'll upload what I am using. Uncompress it, and run D3DOverrider.

Download this

You can force vsync in DirectX games that does not appear to have option for it, or does not allow vsync in certain situation (eg Far Cry 3 does not allow vsync option when playing in windowed mode...).

Of course, the main purpose is Triple Buffering, which helps with reducing sudden fps drops associated with Vsync, and improves performance quite a bit when vsync is turned on.

Thanks for the upload man.

But is there an advantage of it over Nvidia's triple buffering?

22Crysis 3 specs out Empty Re: Crysis 3 specs out 2012-12-04, 00:04

StormEye

StormEye

nVIDIA triple buffering does not work on recent games as it only works for OpenGL games.

OpenGL games = nVIDIA triple buffering
DirectX games = D3DOverrider

SOME games have triple buffering on by default, but they are rare and its hard to tell the difference. So its better to just force it on.
