I've gotta say while Bioshock 2 is fun, it's probably a lot better for consoles.

They decided to fuck up the controls for PC. No weapon wheel or plasmid wheel, which makes it totally impractical to use more than 3 or 4 plasmids at once. I generally only use 1 or 2 in a battle, and spend too much time fumbling between them(you only get one button that scrolls through them one by one).

I figured using a controller might change this, but they also decided to drop controller support.

For $2.50 it is nonetheless an awesome deal though.

heard bioshock did have problems with sound on pc but that was years ago,maybe they fixed it

The problems with sound were probably only related to how complicated and awesome the PC sound is, I'm guessing if you were using software rendered sound(no soundcard) it might have problems keeping up. Bioshock is one of the few modern games with 3D binaural sound; most games stop at 7.1 and don't put height into play.

Bioshock 1 has the weapon/plasmid wheels, controller support and all that jazz I believe. They just dropped it for Bioshock 2 because they felt it interfered with the flow of the combat.

actually thinking about saving up for a sound card for the richer experience, it's like an 80 dollar asus 7.1 card,heard it's really good for the price

Creative X-Fi soundcards are where it's at when it comes to hardware 3D sound support. They're the only cards that actually have hardware OpenAL support.

Most games don't use this though... BF3 and Bioshock are probably the most recent... so the most important thing is really what crossfeed tech you like the most between Dolby Headphone and CMSS-3D. I've found CMSS-3D to be a little more accurate but that's probably because I didn't normally use DH on reference mode.

I've also heard that Creative soundcards have some algorithms and stuff that increases the accuracy of positional cues. Main problem with their cards is that their drivers and software can be a pain in the ass.


I still have a Creative Soundblaster Audigy SE sitting around that I'm willing to give away but nobody seems to want it.
