Well I cant wait to see next gen on consoles,I've never been very interested in what the PC offers and I really like how easy consoles are.Imo I think the ultimate gaming rig would be an Xbox and a Playstation side by side.

I want to upgrade my PC for music applications, PC gaming would be simply be a little bonus as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately, a graphic card is the last thing I will spend money on when it comes to a PC for my needs.

I do wish I had the cash to burn though...

However the "gaming PC's are better, consoles are doomed!" argument isn't new. Remember I ran and owned game stores from 91 to 04 and that has been said every generation.

Even as far back as the NES/SNES transition people were saying "Systems are doomed/suck Computers are soooo much more powerful" (although then it was people adamant that Amiga was going to crush all).

Back when I PC gamed we thought the same thing: "PC's are going to push consoles out of the market" etc... In fact that is why I started buying/selling and renting PC games so heavily back then.

It never happened throughout those gens, so I don't see it carrying any more weight now. In fact over those generations the gaming market and consoles in particular have grown stronger, not less.

You definitely make a good point there.

Only thing is that this generation is going to likely be the smallest jump as far as graphics go that we've seen yet. Hopefully some crazy optimization can prove that wring.

I do love my consoles, but the pc sympathisers on here have some very valid points Wink

As it stands, I'm all up for a new Xbox (have been for a while...) and am perfectly willing to throw some decent money at it.

But I'm a whore for games, not formats, and if I'm not taken by whatever Microsoft has to offer, I will more than likely just take that same money and throw it at a new pc instead.

At this point though, it's really all just speculation. I'd really love to see Microsoft pull out all the stops (and I do honestly think there's a decent chance they will), but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
