From my experience, they just report the news. I typically prefer to listen to them or Al Jazeera since they have no stake in the political agendas in the US

they report the news. there is little bias because of the ''TV Licensing Fee''. if you want to watch live TV, you have to pay a very reasonable fee (its a ridiculously low amount for what you get access to via freeview boxes).

basically, the BBC gets publicly funded via the licensing fee so that it can remain impartial. it is not supported by governments or political parties, thus it has no private agenda.

Then I'm sold. I'm getting my news from BBC. Funny thing. When I lived at home and had BBC channel to watch Doctor Who. I'd actually sit down with my mom and we'd just watch it.

Adli, I never did ask you, what part of the UK are you from? I've always wanted to visit the UK (so much history!). In another two or three years I may be able to be stationed somewhere in Europe (Ramstein or Spangdalhem AFB would be nice)

Speaking of which, hows the Army going for you Grey? get stationed anywhere cool?

yeah the BBC is great. the TV channels are really good too. there are some really, REALLY, good documentaries as a result of the impartiality:

some really insane science shows like Horizon http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mgxf that deal with shit like the LHC and Black Holes

some investigative shows like Panorama http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006t14n that deal with some really important socio-politcal and economic issues like immigration and political scandals. the kind of show that would get shut down if it was on FOX Razz

Awesome, any suggestions on sight seeing whenever I manage to make it up to the UK? We have some air bases there if I recall. Lakenheath and Mildenhall if memory serves.

Fort Hood, Texas. 1st Cav.... It's possibly the worst place to be stationed in the Army. But it's the largest. It's bigger than my home city.

There's Menwith Hill as well, a few miles away from where I live. It's also near York which is a really nice city.

BBC is great. Unlike most cable news networks they actually have reporters that go and do reporting on site. CNN/Fox/MSNBC mostly just sit in studios in new york commenting on stuff with their spin while showing millions of commercials.

Its the only news source in the middle east that isnt censored by a government... It used to get a bad rap though because when Al Qaeda wanted to take credit for an attack, they would send their videos to Al Jazeera to air them... personally I dont think theres anything wring with that because they definitely didnt sympathize with Al qaeda, just reported it.

I'm going to continue to think of Al Jazeera as a horrifically evil terrorist propaganda pit that should be blown up.
