further rumours suggest that Sony could be ditching the PlayStation's traditional DualShock design in favour of something more cutting edge.
According to a senior studio source talking to CVG, the next-generation system's controller has gone through a number of iterations, with some including biometric sensors and LCD touchscreens. Few resemble the DualShock design that has become synonymous with the PlayStation brand over the last sixteen years, however.
A second source also connected to Sony noted that engineers are reportedly "trying to emulate the same user interface philosophies as the PS Vita," presumably meaning touchscreen and possibly rear trackpad capabilities.
Whatever the case, Sony is playing its cards close to its chest regarding the design of the controller for the next-generation console, as you'd expect with the console itself being such a closely-guarded secret. Expect to see the controller when the console is announced, hopefully later in the year.
It can't be any worse than the PS3's prototype 'banana' controller, right?
