I was thinking about getting a 2-3 Terabyte HDD this weekend and moving all my steam games to it, while leaving my initial 1TB hard drive for regular programs and music.

What's my best shot here? I noticed the prices kind of vary, with some being around $100 for a 2TB like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822149397

WD

Easily IMO

I have a 2TB HDD and only got 260 gigs left lol

I almost always use Western Digital

It looks like they have a ton of different kinds though.

Like there is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136792

Which they say is for "Power computing",

and then this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136579

Which is "ideal for servers". Obviously I'm not running a server here but what the fuck they have the same specs.

EDIT: Well shit, noticed the Black(first link) has 6.0Gbps, that looks like my best bet. Anyone disagree or have another suggestion?

Looks really good to me man

No doubt

Looks like WD is more expensive than other brands

NEver knew that

I just know they are very reliable and last for years.

Never had one go out on me, ever.

Well they also have this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236343

But I don't know what makes it worse than the black.

Yea I cant tell a difference either

Let me look at it closer

Hmm thats bizarre

They look identical to me

Maybe Im missing something

Well according to WD, the black series is for enthusiasts and high performance while the red series is for NAS systems.

But I don't understand what it is about them that makes them suited for those tasks better. It seems like the black is what I want but I'd like to know why I want it lol.

No doubt

I saw that little tidbit too , but it didnt really tell me anything.

Two TB's isnt fucking around though

Aha, apparantly those shifty bastards are lying about their specs kind of: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article786-page2.html

But yeah it looks like a WD Black is the way to go. I'mma pick one up tomorrow.

6gb vs 3gb doesn't matter for mechanical hard drives, they don't even max out sata 2

but ya I'd go western digital. I should of got that instead of this seagate although it's still kicking around lol. WD Blacks are pricey but worth it,5 year warranty. Don't get WD Green drives, heard they're garbage

Seagates are pretty solid as well

I think I have used Seagate and WD most, when it comes to HDD.

if I just delete games I won't play after I beat them,I'd probably be good with just 1tb forever haha

What the hell how much porn do you people download to almost take up a whole TB?

I've got a WD black 2TB and no complaints here. Load times are pretty good from most games that I have on it.

Well I drove across town to get one and... turns out the OEM kits don't come with SATA cables. Dammit...

Good call. Although I do need it to play Dirt 3 but that can wait.

Alright, now we're in business. Now I just gotta move all my steam stuff over and hope I don't break it.

I also got a mechanical keyboard while I was at Micro Center, a Ducky Zero with red switches. Shit is weird.

Mechanical keyboards are amazing

I love mine

Chewy

It does feel pretty nice but it's gonna take some getting used to. I feel like I fumble a bit more with it at the moment.

The one I got is pretty quiet too. Not much louder than a k120, actually probably quieter if I don't bottom out.

I cant go back to rubber domes now that Ive gotten used to it

I don't know which switches to get, either blue or red..probably blue. I have the shitty 10 dollar k120 keyboard lol.

prob razer blackwidow.maybe on black friday or something. Thought about getting watercooling then too but eh. I don't want it breaking and frying my shit lol

Most water cooling is non conductive

JrTapia1991

Red and blue are quite a bit different from the looks of it. I wouldn't want blue because they click when you press them down and I like mine fairly quiet. Blue's are known for being best for typing while reds or blacks are good for gaming. Browns are in between.

If you have a Micro Center near you I'd recommend going there, you can take all the keyboards out of their boxes and see how they feel. Although I don't recall them having any Razer mechanical keyboards but maybe I just missed them.

Oh yeah and another thing cool about the Ducky keyboards is they support N-Key rollover over USB. Not sure if any other do that, they usually make it so you need PS2.

I can't think of any situation where I would need it, unless I was using my keyboard as synthesizer input, but it's pretty neat considering USB isn't supposed to support that. Max amount of keys supported by USB native is 6 at once.

Chewy

Chewy

Yeah I have really taken a liking to the keyboard already. I think I might have to get one for work too lol.
