A felony? I don't know about that.

They should make it like getting a DUI. Big trouble, huge fines, court etc... but no real jail or prison time unless you repeat offend or are in the country illegally

They should also do that for people that don't use their blinker.

The guy getting beasted plays for Michigan. So he would indeed be a suitable target for the nut dip.

You know this wouldn't be such a big problem if people made movies and music worth buying. Smile

If you produce a good product, I will buy it so you can afford to make me more good product.  Otherwise, you can kiss my ass.

It really doesn't need to be a felony.  What needs to happen is actual prosecution of the misdemeanors, and media coverage of it if they want to make an impact.  No one wants their record tarnished over something as stupid as a movie or album.  $20 isn't worth it.  And no album or movie is worth potentially destroying someones life - its hard to get a job when you have to check the box for yes next to "have you ever been found guilty of a felony".

Also, fuck people. Especially people who don't drive exactly like I do.

I agree with Sheep.
No felony, but they actually charge you the misdemeanor.

Like a speeding ticket. Make it a couple hundred bucks, but if you don't pay it they confiscate your PC.

it's stupid because they're not gonna get any money anyway. I know the stupid fine print "law" but in real world it doesn't make a difference if somebody borrows a movie from a friend, goes to friend's house to watch it,streams it online,or downloads it, either way the company wasn't making any money anyway. Or especially if the person just buys it used off amazon/ebay/friend or a pawn shop, that's "legal" and yet they're still not making any money

they're just going to keep trying and trying to ram something through until something SOPA like eventually passes.

So are you saying they should outlaw the re-sale of anything that can be re-produced or copied digitally?

I'd be OK with that.

funny thing is I remember awhile back they were trying to get it illegal to resale movies on ebay, etc but then I never heard anything else about it.

funny because a few days ago Holder had this big conference in San Francisco saying they don't want to charge marijuana possession/nonviolent offenders with prison time anymore and yet they go after this petty bullshit now
