It's like I forgot everything in a way, can't even manage to go positive as of late. My sniping is especially atrocious right now, and it's frustrating because I know what I can do.

Then again, it didn't help that all the matches, save one, the enemy had some of the best damn pilots I've seen in a long while. Couldn't walk or drive 2 inches without getting our asses strafed to the 9th layer of hell.

Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow, it's mega discouraging you know? Getting owned so bad after just coming back.

I actually jut started playing again as well, at a friend's. There's definitely some rust, can't aim for shit. Luckily I'm playing on his profile.

Yeah, I can't seem to hit anything. I've never had it this bad before.

@Sym you still actively playing at all?

Guest

Guest

Not really. Im kinda waiting for BF4 to come out. I got frustrated, and stopped playing after having an experience similar to yours.

Maybe we could squad up the three of us? I'm sure we could manage to do decent if we stick together a bit.

I'd be down for that.

I would totally be down for that

sigh i think i uninstalled bf3 again, but i MIGHT dl it again if you guys are playing

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Certainly, I'd definitely be down for that.

@Ante I recall that you use DXtory for recording, I was wondering, what settings are you using to record? Even with all my graphics turned down to medium/low on BF3 I'm having issues in the game, enough so it gets me killed. Average FPS is 55-60 without Dxtory recording, then that drops to 37-40 when I do record. Input commands and the juttering of the screen really throws me off.

At first it was way worse, I had to turn on Vsync to calm most of it down.

Current settings for BF3 in DXtory is as follows

Movie Settings

Use Default setting
Video Code: Lagarith Lossless Codec (Mulithreading: Check, Mode YV12)
Key Framerate: 15
Quality: 100
File Output: AVI
Synchonize Video FPS: Check
Scaling: 1280x720
Frame Rate: 30 FPS

I'm using a seprate internally connected mechanical HD that runs at 7200rpm to record to. Write speed according to DXtory is 100mb/s

Is there any particular reason why I'm having so much issues with Dxtory?

Current system specs (which are really showing their age now)

Intel i7 processor, 3.20ghz
Windows 64xbit
8gb RAM
nVidia GTX 560's x2 SLI

Ante

Ante

Use the base Dxtory codec, turn the quality to medium, and enable the compress option. I get next to no FPS hit and I record on the same harddrive my games are on.

My guess is a lossless codec is going to take a huge amount of resources to record with.

Thanks Ante, I'll give that a try and see how it works out. Hopefully it'll help.

Im gonna need to warm up for BF4 anyhow so it might be good to get back into BF3

JrTapia1991

I was playin it the other night and went like 100-20 Twisted Evil afro afro

metro is good to warm up on it's a damn bloodbath and my fav map lol.

Guest

Guest

Metro is one of my least favorite. I only like playing it when Im not playing alone.

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Bleh, I don't like Metro at all. I hate maps with choke points with absolutely no way to break through. Davamand peak is the same way, with an exception of the helicopter that gives you at least a glimmer of being able to push up.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

I usually warm up on Caspian Border or Kharg Island

Screw Caspian

Worst map in BF3 in my humble opinion

Ante

Ante

Caspian is boring for sure, but I don't dread it like I do Grand Bazaar rush. Ugh, that map is fucking HORRIBLE.

true the defenders spawn wayyyyyyy too far away

Grand Bazaar is ok on conquest

JrTapia1991

JrTapia1991

yeah I like conquest more, rush is RUINED by horrible team mates sucking and never disarming,or never having the balls to push up and arm the mcoms

in rush it pretty much comes down to just zerg rushing the mcom all at once,it's fun for a while but horrible team mates ruin it

Rush is fun with a full squad. You can dominate.

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Eh, on PC I enjoy it. Not as interesting as some of the other maps, and I hate rush with a dire passion, I'm terrible at the twitch style of shooting that typically dominates that game mode, I also hate the choke points, it annoys the ever living fuck out of me.

To me Rush feels like CoD in more ways than one, you run in, and you die, if all else fails, keep throwing meat into the grinder and eventually you'll break through.

Now in reality, I'm sure it's much different, but that game mode is just not for me. Granted, every time I've gone into rush, it's been with a PUG, so that interpretation of the game mode may change if I were to play with a squad. It's just all my experiences with that game type has been negative.

Also still sucking balls, just ran a round on Armored shield and did terrible. lag aside, got knifed twice, almost nemesis-ed by this asshole who kept T-bagging me. my .44 mag was also shooting marshmallows I swear. had a guy lined up nicely in my irons and unloaded 4 rounds into him, not one registered (That I give credit to lag). Rubber banded around all over the damn place, and it was just a huge mess. I think I'll just give up on trying to run recon, because trying to snipe anything with lag is just going to end in frustration.

Every damn game I go into seems to have that problem, i think it's a game wide issue with some folks. Numerous people in game are saying the same thing, that no matter what their ping is, the game lags on them. Pretty shitty situation all around if you ask me.

Rush was the highlight of BC2 imo

Guest

Guest

I never had a problem with lag in BF3 I dunno man

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Bleh, I learned to hate rush very thoroughly in BC2 even more so in BF3. Don't get me wring, if it's fun for you, have at it. No point in playing if you're not having fun. As for me, it's just not my cup of tea. I end up getting frustrated and aggravated more than anything else when I play that game mode.

@Sym It may be a combination of things, my wireless USB adapter is pretty old (4-5 years?) and ideally, you want to run MP games while you're hard wired to the wall. However, I'm NOT going to buy 200+ft of cable just to hard plug my PC into my router.

You're very fortunate not to have lag, it's annoying as hell to know you lost a fire fight simply because your bullets got lost in transit (literally)

I don't dislike a single map. They're all good.
Although I am sick of Firestorm, Kharg & Caspian just because most fucking rent-a-servers don't have anything but those maps.

Agreed, I enjoyed the aftermath maps though, I love the vertical play that is in them, really well made maps IMO, end game maps are kind of meh for me, but I haven't played them enough to really say.

Armored kill is boring as hell IMO. Also, I can't wait until BF4 comes out so that suppression is fixed. Really annoying that I'm shooting at a guy with my handgun no more than 5ft away from him and I lose because I'm suddenly shooting nerf darts at the guy due to suppression mechanics. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make it so that you get a direct accuracy nerf due to suppression needs to be taken out and beaten to death.

Aftermath and CQ were my favorite

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Haven't play enough of the CQ maps to really say, most of the time i've played on CQ it's been at Scrap metal which was okay. Again, not very good at twitch shooting, but I do like how there really isn't any choke points. So many different directions to go and get to the same point, wish Dice would do that for Rush honestly.

Twitch shooting is my strongest skill

The only ones I don't enjoy playing thaqt much are the Armored Kill maps. There just aren't enough players to fill them up on console. They're just to damn big and empty, but I can see how they could be sweet with 64 players!

I agree that the Aftermath maps are great.

Even on the PC the AK maps are too big. I dont know how much they cut out on console, but on PC they are fucking huge.

Metalzoic

Metalzoic

I thought the maps were the same size for both, just far more empty on console?

No they reduce all the maps except for the tiny ones for console

Ran a few rounds using PDW's and did a little better. Barely broke positive, but I noticed that there are many cases where I would shoot someone (despite no rubber banding) that I'd get a hit marker and no hits.

Had a guy point blank, 2 rounds of 44 mag to the dome, and he kills me. He goes on to say on his screen, I never fired a shot.

Gotta love packet loss or whatever that is.

Still, slow improvement, it just sucks having to run with blueberries. Can't rely on any of them for shit.

Get a PCI wireless card, dude. There's no point in playing with a connection like that.

Also, Endgame is my favorite pack. Maps are all pretty good. That snowy one can be a bitch though.

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Can't really afford one right now sadly, looking into getting a new wireless adapter down the line though. I wasn't even aware they still make internal cards these days, I thought they were all wireless USB now.

I got a netgear dual band n500 or whatever for like 40 at walmart. Also have a 10 dollar cheapo one that works good too, could try a cheap one and see if that fixes it,if not,it must be the internet, or possible bf3's servers, I remember them getting DDoS hacked a month or so ago

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Someone mentioned that on the forums and in game. What's DDos?

Direct Denial of Service.

I don't what means exactly, but it's not good for things that have it.

JrTapia1991

JrTapia1991

it's hackers flooding the servers with pings or something and them getting overloaded pretty much *shrug*

Pretty much. They just overload the servers with connections.

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Ah, interesting. Not sure if that was the case. Ran a very late night/early morning run a few days ago, did better. Granted it was a low pop server. Ran around with the M249 SAW. Was pretty fun, went 34-24. Not my greatest by any stretch of the mean, but pretty decent for a belt fed LMG on a relatively CQC focused map.
