Come on guys, everyone knows if you don't hear it on the radio it isn't real music. Sheesh.

Actually, if you hear it anywhere at all it's garbage. Because that means at least 1 person is a fan of it, which is way too mainstream.

And guys I didn't mean that video game music isn't real music, I just meant that I don't listen to it on a regular basis.

Video game music lacks vocals. Non vocal music has to be amazing to be good IMO to make up for lack of vocals, and background music does not really get the big end of the budget during games.

Only good song I've heard in a game in a long time was M4 Pt II in the mass effect credits and that was by a real band.

I liked the Halo soundtrack, but mostly just the parts that Steve Vai covered with guitar shredding.

I'll take a solid instrumental over lyrics any day. Many composers that make music for video games are geniuses and deserve a lot more credit than they get.

The only videogame music I've listened to on a regular basis was the ME1 soundtrack. I actually dislike that technopop song with the vocals, though.

Also, the radio is awful here. My phone broke (temporarily) today so I couldn't listen to my tracks on the way to work. I tried listening to the radio, but I just ended up getting some Katy Perry song in my head, and I wanted to veer into the highway divider.
Then I listened to NPR and they talked about books that I'm never going to read. That's the only station I really enjoy, and it's a crapshoot. Half the time it's good journalism, the other half they're talking about stuff I could never in a million years give a fuck about.

Check it out. They play a lot of the music that I like. It's kind of iffy though. It's either really good, or very strange music. But the majority of the time, they play stuff like Deerhunter and LCD Soundsystem and Tame Impala. I've found a lot of music from it.

The Band of Brothers and The Pacific had good sound tracks...... Those are movies though :0
