Yes I know that it's basically impossible to pick one movie as THE BEST, but what would you say are some that would be worthy of the title?

For me, it's The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Easily the greatest movie ever written if you ask me.

The Count of Monte Cristo is by far my favorite movie ever! The book is amazingly awesome too. I would recommend that to anyone looking for a good book or movie.

Yea I would have to say it would be alot easier to go by genre.

I like Shawshank but got burnt ouyt on it when it seemed to be on every station every day all the time a few years back.

Stand By Me! ... mainly because it's my favorite ever.

If you love Shawshank (great freaking movie), you should pick up the book, it's in... Four Seasons, I think. Has four other stories (the stand by me book, and apt pupil included (<-that one is waaay different than the movie)).

The Green Mile makes me cry, so I don't watch it. Started reading the books for it, but never finished.

PS: I vote for it's time: Wizard of Oz (we're still watching that 70-80 years later)

PPS: Overall, I'd probably say Saving Private Ryan because it pushed the war genre into growing some balls and showing what it really looked like. Before that, gore was reserved for cult movies and horror.
