The weapon sound is nice and the guns actually have a lot more recoil than it originally looked like. I've only tried a few so far though. There is really no ambient sound though.
AI is poop. Your teammates really do just sit there and do nothing some times. The first challenge is just downright ridiculous to do solo because there's a clusterfuck of 10 guys around the objective which is located next to their spawn, and your 3 teammates don't do anything except maybe shoot a bullet or two every once and a while. Luckily you don't need to do the 3 star challenge to unlock anything but the 2 star was still a bitch.
Customization is actually not as immense as I thought, but it's still cool.
Leveling up is really fast. I'm a 7 or 8 now just from doing challenges.
Core gameplay is fun though, I like the way the guns feel and the SMART system is pretty good. Don't expect to be bouncing all over the place but it does help you get places.
I'll play some multiplayer tonight probably and post my thoughts on it. That's really the most important part and I haven't even gotten to it.
Continuing on from this with multiplayer impressions:
Played a few matches.
I tried a couple campaign missions which were pretty fun. Pretty much just mowing down bots though. No lag for these.
Then I went on to versus. First game I joined I couldn't move. Lag was that bad. Second game, I was a spectator. I don't know why they think I'd want to do that. Then I finally got into a good one third game.
My team was kind of getting our asses kicked every round but I thought it was still fun. This seems like it would be a really fun game to play with people that actually communicate, but my team was kinda dumb. I think I was getting hit by teammates a decent amount too since there would be points where I'd die quickly but not see any enemies around. I'd definitely recommend it, I'm having fun with it.
But there are some gripes I have with it. First of all operative classes disguise skills kind of suck. You can't even throw a sticky grenade while disguised, you have to pull out your gun(which can take a few seconds if you're holding a heavy one), and then throw it. But your disguise is ruined right when you start pulling out your gun so that gives the enemy team plenty of time to kill you.
Also the auto-shotgun sucks. I've only tried it on campaign but I don't know why you would waste a heavy slot for it when you can just use a pump action for a secondary that doesn't fire all that much slower. It reloads a lot faster but meh. Auto grenade launcher is also extremely situational as the grenades don't explode on impact. Great for clearing out tight groups of people though.
And there is another mechanic about the gunplay that takes getting used to. You can't continue to fire in the process of aiming down sights. Now this makes complete sense because IRL there is no way in hell you could line up sights while in the middle of firing an automatic gun, but other games aren't like this and it sometimes makes it feel unresponsive due to it.
Overall I'd probably rate the game a 7.8/10. It's a fun game but it has plenty of technical flaws and the full 8v8 multi-player is currently unplayable. Fortunately 5v5 seems like a better amount actually, any more would probably be a clusterfuck.
