I managed to vomit this out this morning.

I used to compose classical-type music in Finale; haven't for a long time though, and I took down my YouTube channel/Facebook, so my music isn't posted anywhere anymore.

Nice song. That high pitched synth that comes in about halfway felt a little off, but for something you just cooked up in a morning, awesome!

I have no talent for creating music, only playing it.

Oh, I forgot to mention: I did like the song. xD I voted it up, but I was so busy starting to feel my temper boil over (towards myself) while I was typing I forgot to mention it. It really fits the mood for me; I've been playing Metroid Prime all day.

Well it will be awhile before I record again because of my shoulder.( Long story, but can link it) But I do plan on recording again as soon as Im capable. Ive got two projects at the moment. A side band, and my own experimental stuff. Im also looking at probably 2 months of practice to regain my chops to necessary levels.

Maybe I'll post some of my music again someday; I still have it, it just needs to go on YouTube (could make videos private or unlisted). I just finished a song I had started on months ago today; I just dropped the project and never finished because I had gotten too depressed to keep writing, but seeing somebody else making music made me want to do it again, so I did.

Very cool. I'm usually not a huge fan of the whole tech-house sound, but these were pretty great. Excellent groove.

What do you guys use to make those?

I'm using FL Studio and too many samples and plugins to keep track of. I've also got a Rock Band mic I still haven't tried and a Korg nanoKONTROL I just got which is amazing. Nothing in the way of recording equipment, though; pretty much everything is synthesized or samples.

Nice camel, those were pretty good.

Camel's:

Those actually sound pretty nice. I like the differences between them, and how they still both sound quite good. The first one has that fun/exciting, kinda dance/fun tone to it, but the second one is a rather interesting, if not having an almost erotica type undertone.

Chewy:

The first loop based track is rather neat/interesting. Makes me think of playing Terraria/older 2D platforming-type games. Some of the parts need to be a little more gradual, as far as transitions. But other than, I like it. My favourite of the two.

The second one is rather odd; it has a lot more of the dance-type tone to it, but still almost has the game type of tone as some parts. The sound effects used were rather odd, but I think it added to the interesting nature of the song. Pretty good.

YouTube video: It sounds too lonely on its own; it's not exactly, terrible. But instead of making it into a song, make into a background type of thing as a song; find the best sounding part, then make it much like an introduction leading into the rest of the song, and have something more organized (as far as chords go) in the background, that sounds similar to it. Every idea can made into a true song, with effort.

Worked on this for another hour or so this morning; still needs heavy doses of mixing.

I like what you've done with it scrittah, that sounds awesome. Camel I'm loving yours also, not a huge fan of house but those were incredibly well done.

Thanks for the feedback Fox. I threw those together all pretty hastily, especially the guitar one I didn't really know where I was going with it lol.

I just recently downloaded this cool drum machine for linux, I'm gonna try making a beat with that and then layering some zynsubaddfx stuff on top and maybe some guitar on top of that. I'm still not very experienced with all the filters and stuff so it should probably come out really sloppy.

Well, I hope you like it. Everybody always says it's fine, but I always get so nervous showing it to people; I don't really like showing things off that I've created. I almost feel narcissic when I do. I've never had any kind of training in composition (I've played instruments for a while though), so I always worry if I've done something horribly wrong, lol.

I'm loving some of these, especially that Depths of the Aqueducts one. Any chance I could get my hands on the MIDI for that boss fight one? I'd love to do a remixy thing of it.

Yeah i get what you say about narcissistic feelings kistune. i hate when people I don't really know come over and start like fapping about how good whatever I happen to be doodling is. I don't take compliments well at all.

Sorry, I don't have Finale. If you can export it as a .midi, I can use that pretty easily. As for what kind of a remix I was thinking of, I was thinking of making some sort of crazy fast breakcore kind of thing for it. Maybe? I'm not really sure ATM.

I was trying to do something more organized but I really suck at making beats with a drum machine. So I just decided to do an ambient jam.

Pretty sloppy(especially the beginning) but I might either build on it or remake something similar. I just wish I was good at making beats though so I could jam on top of them.

I think it sounds pretty good.

Don't feel bad, I'm usually not that great with percussion-type sounds and such either.

What program are you guys using for your beats?

All I'm using right now is Zynaddsubfx software synthesizer(completely free, I highly recommended it) with a keyboard attached and then I use Ardour to record it.

I tried making some beats with Hydrogen Drum Machine but I couldn't come up with anything good. Plus for some reason it won't let me save so I didn't want to try too hard with it.

i use Virtual DJ pro and fruity loops studio 9 also known as FL studio 9

I've got far too many VSTs to count. On that one project I posted, I'm using Metatron, Altair 4, 3xosc, The CS Drafter, The CS Cloud, and Synth1 for instruments (all free), and for effects, Magnus Smartelectronix Ambience, Atomsplitter Audio Distroyer, CamelCrusher, VescofreeHass (also all free), and a bunch of built in FL Studio plugins.

I'm just using Finale 2010; it has some Garritan VSTs, which sound pretty awesome.
