I'm just going through nerdrage right now. I know most of you guys don't really play these type of games, but I'm raging.

Fucking asshole included the exact thing that would kill the game. How much of a dumbass can he be?

I knew he wasn't brilliant when I saw plenty of his decisions with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, but now he goes and adds QTEs? Stupid son of a bitch, it's like he's just trolling. The enemies seem to behave like stupid, braindead sandbags, like most, if not all, fucking games have them.

In Ninja Gaiden 2, the enemies were out to kill you. Now they're just sacks of shit waiting to die, like in God of War, or Dante's Inferno, or Devil May Cry, or (insert game).

Maybe that was the easiest difficulty, and their AI changes on harder ones... I want to believe that.

But I just, argh! How can anyone fuck up that bad? QTEs? W T F???

Sorry guys, too much rage I know. But the man just killed the action game with the best combat system I've seen.

Edit: Oh right, video if anyone's interested.

*doesn't know what QTE means*

Edit: from watching the video, I'm guessing you mean quick time events. I've never played a Ninja Gaiden game, so I wouldn't know anything about it. I never really understood why people complain about quick time events. They were fine for me when I played Tomb Raider and Resident Evil.

Some games (not many) have a nice use of QTEs. Action games are not one of those because of the way they work, or are supposed to work.

Including QTEs in your game (for gameplay purposes, not cutscenes) is a way to say "I don't really know how to incorporate this into the game, so I'll just script it with a QTE to save me the trouble!". Other than making cutscenes a bit more interactive, which in itself is subjective to whether that's good or bad, there's no real reason to have them in an action game.

They break the flow of combat, something that shouldn't really happen when combat is the main part of the game. Or they are included in stupid parts. Example: the NG3 video, the part which has Ryu climbing a wall via QTEs.

Ninja Gaiden 2 has superb combat, one of the best I've played. It's fluid, quick, brutal, gory. All in all, it's almost perfect. The game has issues because it was rushed, but combat is not one of them.

Then you have games like God of War, plagued by QTEs because it has some of the shittiest and most boring combat mechanics ever. It's one of those games you play, marvel at its beauty and epic battles, and never play it again because it's not worth it.

Ninja Gaiden has such a good combat system that I have probably played it more than Bad Company 2. And it's a single player game. Giving it QTEs is a sure way to make sure that the combat isn't as good as it could be, make it easily repetitive, and just downright shows lack of creativity.

I can go on and give examples if you want <_<

I get what you're saying they are annoying. On a side note i've never felt like DMC's enemies were like as you put it "sacks of shit" lol. Except for the regular puppets maybe.

QTE's get boring fast.

Yep, I saw it man. Didn't look like NG to me at all. More like DMC/GoW dressed in Ninja clothes.

Speaking of DMC... don't look at it.

Ooh, I liked Ninja Gaiden 2. I actually still have it and never got around to finishing it.

Hopefully there won't be a lot of QTEs... They don't bother me a whole lot personally, but I can't really see them in NG.

I LOVE the GoW series, but I also enjoy Ninja Gaiden. NG2 did have fantastic fluid combat, but it was also a terribly frusterating game.

Part of Ninja Gaiden is the fact that it's so punishing. I can't play the series because I rage so hard at it, but if they're dumbing the difficulty down to try and grab the Gears audience all I can say is "poor form."

Wait.. Why would the gears audience want to play this? =o

Should just be like Ninja Gaiden with the "I am going to die fast in the first level!"

Yeah I think that QTE's are the worst thing you can do to a game. They're annoying as shit, just show the damn cut-scene or have a normal battle.

I watched some pictures...

Emo Dante? Yeah, no thanks. <_< The combat must be the best shit ever if they did that to Dante. I liked DMC3, 4 not so much, but it was all right.

Not all enemies in DMC were sandbags, but after playing NG2, most games seem to have those types of enemies for me Laughing

Regarding God of War, it's a franchise that tends to have very polished games, well put together and overall have them be a technical marvel. Playing through God of War 3 made my jaw drop at how good everything looked. But the gameplay does so little for me, the enemies are braindead and its concept of a harder difficulty is the "you do less damage, enemy does more damage" one, which is translated into: "I'm a lazy ass/I have no creativity".

But yeah, Ninja Gaiden is balls to the wall hard (in the harder modes) and can be frustrating if you don't know how to approach it. That's what I love about it. It certainly isn't for everyone, but that's part of its beauty. And this MOFO is just taking a big dump all over it, I'm not even talking about its difficulty, which I know little about.

I want to think that not all hope is lost, but it's better to expect a steaming pile of shit from him, and just have the slim chance that it will actually be good and surprise me.
