Anyone here into Recreational Fishing/Hunting?

I love bass fishing though!

I remember when I was a kid my dad took me fishing and he caught a couple of small sharks.

He brought them home and made them pets.

Mini-shark + Bag of goldfish feeders= awesome

Fishing is kind of boring, in my opinion.
I'd like to go hunting, though.

Nice. I love hunting and fishing.

I hate both. Fishing is boring and I'd rather shoot people I hate.

I get my thrills in other ways....

Regular fishing (catfish, bass, etc.) is boring but once you go down to South Carolina at Parris Island and go shark fishing off the coast is just fantastic (its nice to spend a few months down their in the summer). But to me hunting is where the real fun is let me describe it to people who haven't been hunting (any other descriptions would help also).

Going out onto a dudes ranch at about 4 o'clock in the morning. Feeling the cool morning's air slightly pushing through the trees feeling like a cool kiss (wishing you had taken a leak an hour before lol). Finding a perfect spot down wind watching the beautiful land scape around you and listening for any deer. Walking mid-day looking for deer moving silently, feeling the slight shock as a woodpecker breaks the silence of the forest. Sighting a deer, lining up the shot, holding your breath make a smooth pull on the trigger. Hearing a click no gunshot the deer goes running off and you realize you had the safety on the whole time. >_<

p.s. While it may be frustrating it is the best way you can spend during late fall and winter.

Someone shot a coyote across the street from me last night. Woke me up at 3am.

Never used to have coyotes around here. Now I'm kind of scared for my dogs, since one is hardly bigger than a cat, and the other one is big enough to defend himself, but he's almost blind, and had a lot of his teeth pulled 'cause they got rotten.

My family fishes every once in a while. We have a pond at my ranch and I go offshore with my uncle and his employees (he does that as a reward for a good year). I wish my dad was a hunter but he doesnt like it so we never went. I had a friend I went hunting with a few times with him and his dad but only shot rabbits.

You just need the right touch with fishing. It's not always about the fish too. Just being out on a lake or by the lake, chilling, and enjoying nature is where it's at. I wanna go hunting, but I only have a Marlin 795 at the moment and I haven't even begun the process of saving up for the Remington 700 SPS Tactical. Though I'm hugely considering getting a Mossberg 590 as well.

Don't know about him for most people its pretty relaxing just being by your self surrounded by nature. Makes you really take life into perspective.

I do a lot of fishing, I think the craziest thing I've caught was an Alligator Gar in Texas, and Snakehead in Florida.

I don't know if I'd hunt one, but I'd fight a kangaroo.

I know, but I'd still be willing to try. I want a good fight, haven't been in one sense my last sparing match.

Sounds fair, I've had a bit of experience with a bowie knife. As for the loincloth, can it be pink with zebra print?

I guess for me, I'd rather hike or mountain climb to appreciate nature. Not kill it. Then again, I also hate guns. Could be my part of the world, but people who own guns are total shitheads from what I've seen. Seems to make them think they are bigger than others when they have one.

And I've tried fishing plenty of times. I just can't enjoy it. Again, I'd rather be more active.

No offense to those who enjoy that stuff. To each his own.

it's ok. when it comes to hunting I'm not a fan of it either. As for fishing I only catch and release, I find it relaxing and calming.

Lol, around here, we say that most people that DON'T own guns are usually tree huggers and what not. Like Frost said, it's the moments leading up to it, not the actual kill. It takes an incredible amount of patience for hunting some game, but birds and such require quick reaction time, and it's your heart going when they bust out of the brush, and you have to quickly aim and shoot.

Who said I ate poop to track them. xD

Anyways, I prefer birds and small animals because there are more opportunities that I get to shoot (animals where I live are VERY smart for what they are) and I like using my shotgun.

I use my 12 gauge. xD I just use the 8 or 7 1/2 shot though.

Well, I hunt mainly grouse when I use it, but at my mom's house, I just use it to control starlings because they're pests. Shotguns are very versatile though, because of all the different shot sizes, shell sizes, or using slugs.
