Chiptune death metal?

I'm not sure what I'm listening to and I'm not sure if I like it.... except for I Got Dance Lessons From Hitler. That song is totally boss.

the "real" drums ruin it for me. They totally overpower and overtake the
chip sounds. I like noise/DPCM drums for chiptune. Gives it that
awesome nostalgia NES feel to it.

yeah well chiptune is a pretty small scene to begin with and there are a few chiptuners doing metal stuff. One of the biggest metal chiptune guys Heospheros is actually from my town and he introduced to the whole chiptune thing. He does some pretty cool stuff...like if Chuck Schuldiner from Death composed NES tunes. I think Tadpole and RUSHJET are others that also do some chiptune metal stuff.

But yeah it doesn't get much more underground than chiptune metal haha.

I thought this was going to be some form of auto-tune that makes you sound like the chipmunks... Bummer.

I've never heard of chiptune, but those sound like those pre-programmed songs they put in casio keyboards.

yeah chiptune is music made with the sound chips of old computers and consoles. Usually it refers to the NES sound chip...at least I think that's the most popular one used. You can use the actual hardware or there are programs that can emulate the chips behavior.

In either case it's hard as balls to make music that sounds as good as that one clip I posted. I tried doing my own chiptune stuff but I'm pretty noobtastic at it. Making a song is a laborious process since you need to program every little bit of musical information in a specific coding language. It's quite labor intensive.

Found out about this stuff a while ago. Pretty interesting.

I'm not so much a fan of the fake 8bit stuff...I'm kind of a snob/hipster when it comes to this kinda stuff haha. I prefer legit NES sounds over anything.
