[FONV] Learning & using GECK consumed my life. LoL

Apparently buying FONV on PC, though I already played 360 some time ago, was one of the worst (I mean best) thing I have done to waste away my time.

At least now everyone knows where I had been. LoL

Well, that is, if anyone was curious.

I've been meaning to play through the DLC on it

I played through DLC2, Honest Heart, as soon as I got it.

Played DLC1, Dead Money, on 360 a long time ago.

I'm going to start DLC3, Old World Blues, today.

Then I have DLC4, Lonesome Road, along with BUNCH of mods I need to test out.

OWB is AMAZING.

the dialogue and voice acting alone is worth it

If I had not been fooling around with GECK, I probably finished all DLCs REALLY fast.

Its just that if I find flaws, or something I needed it changed, I fired up GECK and fixed it myself.

The only annoying flaw I constantly have is the built in crash-o-meter of FO3/NV engine... and I can't fix that with GECK...

yeah the crashes are very annoying.

luckily i have compulsive save disorder so i dont lose much progress

F5 for PC is gamesave saver, as you can press that at any moment you suspect you will crash soon.

i use autosave too, so unless its in the mojave im safe

I dunno if my laptop could handle many mods for new vegas,I wanted to look it all up but I fried my brain trying to mod Fallout 3...never modded a game before in my life and found a dummy guide and followed it and got the overhaul mod where you can start out as the enclave,and 10 seconds in,BOOM it crashed..

I don't think it would of worked very good,the graphics were like PS1 >___>

FONV should not be too demanding on PCs, as the engine is pretty old.

I'm glad to see Stormy didn't forget about us. Enjoy OWB Storm, it is the BEST DLC I've ever played. Just hilarious.

Finished all DLCs, and MAJORITY of the mods I was going to test.

I found it funny that a SINGLE mod was longer than the ENTIRE FONV (at least in terms of combat). LoL

OWB is cool, funny, and utterly game breaking (in terms of items, perks, and implants. but who cares about it in single player game).

I actually really enjoyed Lonesome Road, but I guess some Role Playing purists might have hated it due to defining a more clear past of the Courier, as opposed to imagining all shenanigans.

Still more mods to test out, and learning more GECK stuff.

OWB broke the SHIT out of FONV.
Implant GRX + Sonic Emitter Tarantula = LOLZ.

by the time the turbo wears off you will have got an incedniray critical or the ZOMG-worthy insta-kill explosion critical.

i killed the giant roboscorp in 3 hits using the Tarantula

I'm going further and further back into the gaming past, as I have now moved onto (well, actually incorporating) the FO3, using a mod that allows me to travel back and forth between FO3 and FONV.

I still have not been able to fire it up yet, as I'm in the installation process, but I have a feeling that I'm going to be going back further and further into gaming past. LoL

Yup.

Basically this mod allows users to play FONV and access all (well, if not most, since there are likely bugs) of FO3.

Its causing me some headache as its somewhat alpha'y and installation details are not well documented, but had tried out some stuff and it shows a lot of promises.

If anything, I can always resort to just playing normally.

is it compatible with FONV weapons and armour or is it basically just FO3 but using the FONV engine?

Should be completely compatible, and makes sense as far as my GECK knowledge of how the game works.

If some lists are modified, I would be able to make even the mod added weapons and armors to appear on NPCs found in FO3, and vice versa.

I haven't played any besides dead money when I got it on sale way back

I have Fallout 3 GOTY on pc but I want it again on xbox I think I'm gonna borrow it from my bro actually...

was going to try and beat Resident Evil Code Veronica in under 4:30 hours to get the achievement but it was too much of a pain lmao not worth busting all my blood veins in rage

I think I only need one more achievement for FO3,getting to lvl 30 with bad karma or something.It's actually a really fun game still I think even tho there's not much to do compared to New Vegas.

I did most of the main stuff in New Vegas as well(besides DLC) .There must be a million side quest

there is the Survivalist Rifle, its a 12.7mm AR15 (roughly based on the Beowulf AR15 conversion) which kicks ass.

OWB is amazing for .308 JSP, stick it in the COS Rifle and you can obliterate anything, i killed the Legendary Deathclaw in 2 headshots

i then trolled him hardcore by crouching in the entrance to his cave and sniping him repeatedly in the head whilst under a stealth field.

he never even saw me before he died, but i took a lot of bullets, he has INSANE health.

it would really break the game tho lol.

My bro beat the game on hardcore hard mode(or maybe expert..dunno.Whichever is the hardest one) and it wasn't even really hard then.Just kinda tough in the beginning till you get some good guns then it's no different really.

I thought hardcore was cool.Kind of a real nuisance at times tho.

well Boone breaks the game enough as it it, every time you open his inventory it adds the effects of his 1st Recon Beret again.

after 10 repeats you get 100% Crit Chance + 10 Perception. then if you have 10 CHA he gets +50% DT and +50% damage on top of that.

he is basically a level 50 courier by himself

I really liked his perk where it highlights the enemies red

you dont get the bonus, he does. you one hit everything because you have high weapons skill and better criticals towards the end game.

but you can basically be a pacifist if you have boone, he will tank everything he sees for you

The legendary bloatfly was spazzing on ground due to my insanely high crit chance combined with sonic emitter, which paralyses targets on crit hit.

I liked FO3 when it was out, but had found the skill system in it annoying compared to FONV, which simplified a lot of things. So its pretty cool to be able to build FO3 character with FONV polish (well, not that much. LoL. But still), while being able to create the god among men of FO3 again.

If you have FONV on PC, you should checkout WARZONE mod, which adds war zones on the map (there are many), which either tweaks the spawn rates to create massive battles among factions (or add those battles where none existed) or creates a totally new area where you can participate in a massive battle. It makes the game's long and empty travels a little more lively and chaotic, as we FPS people like it. LoL
