Any reason why a 128GB mSATA SSD would be a bad idea to put an OS on? I was playing around with spec'ing laptops on Xotic PC and they offer this as an option on laptops that have mSATA capable mobos.

Any one have any thoughts?

no it's an internal drive. A micro (or mini?) SATA drive. Something like this.

They install in a slot right on the mobo. They are supposed to be used for caching but if you mess with settings you can get them to act as a normal SSD from what I've read.

Was mixing up with eSATA. LoL

I don't think there will be anything wrong.

My laptop has mSATA SSD as a default.

Had absolutely no problems with it.

I've had more HDD crashes with my OCZ Vertex 3 than mSATA SSD on my laptop.

mSATA is only SATA II speeds though right? I'm guessing that's not a huge deal though since booting an SSD at SATA II should be faster than an HDD at SATA III correct?

Actually, mSATA should support same speed as SATAIII.

There are different speeds. 150/300/600.
