How to unlock my GPU fan speed?

So Im hoping somebody can help me out with this

Heres the deal.....

My GPU fan tops out at 85%, it does not go any higher than that. I am having heating issues with my gpu and I need a more aggressive profile.

I use MSI afterburner to set my custom profile, but I have no way to get my fan to go higher than 85%, if that makes any sense....

What brand is your graphics card? Does it come with its own temp/fan monitoring stuff?

That's weird though, I would think that all your fans should default to 100%.

EDIT: Shit, looks like the highest mine will go in EVGA precision x is 80%. I just keep it on auto though.

I have a GTX 580

I have Precision but use MSI Afterburner

Yea thats cool yours does the same too.

Makes me wonder if you can unlock it in BIOS

You can, I saw the option while trying to turn on the Wake on LAN ability last night.
