sweet, we can get a huge SeC game going.

So far, I know Lemon, Tom, Ante, Twitchy, Adli and I have all G&K.

also, I'm not upgrading. Though sale hunting, I've already got the other civs, the only benefits I would get would be the map packs.

I thought they only made one. I tried the demo, and even though it was simplified, I loved it.

Not sure why I never bought it?..

Just get Civ 3 Im sure whatever rudimentary computer you have can handle it

Metalzoic

Metalzoic

Maybe. This computer is a brand new i7 something, something. I have no idea if its built in graphics whatsits would be up to the task.

What am I talking about? I don't want to play a PC game! Especially an old nasty one!

Civ 5 was running on my old Vista im sure that thing could handle it for sure

Oh yeah, nevermind then. Steam makes me think of the Gabe thing. That thing makes me think of dorks, cheeto fingers and the South Park Warcraft episode.

You have cured of my urge to play Civ 5.

Frostbyrn

Its okay we both know you would only play Catherine the Great and keep making horse jokes

Metal, this game is epic winsauce. The modding community is amazing, I just played on a perfect earth map (seriously! fucking 22 civilizations, all with accurate capitals and resources! holy shit!). It's truly nuts, the depth of the game is magnificent. And if you want, like Frost said there's an amazing deal going on. Get Gold edition, it's worth every penny.

Frost, I actually just finished my first Deity game, I was using Polynesia. Moai statues out the ass, generating massive culture and money

These types of strategy/RTS/building games, especially space/starflight type ones are the one thing that I really miss about PC gaming.

have you checked out Planetary Annihilation? its kickstarted, its like a cross-planet RTS. looks solid.

Metalzoic

Dammit don't tell me that!

EDIT: Fuck me I went and looked at it and it looks so awesome it made me twitch. Think a Surface Pro could run that?

If I did get a gaming PC it would have to be a laptop of some sort so I could pretend it was a handheld or a tablet.

tbh, a realistic looking <genre> where you can design your own <anything> would be pretty awesome.

kinda like SPORE, but not horribly limiting.

Holy Hell, I'm having the best game ever!

Playing as Paul Atreides, on a huge continents map (since I couldn't make it all desert). First to a religion, first the get Desert Folklore, and my faith per turn tripled. I enhanced Maud-dib's Jihad before all but 2 others even HAD religions.

How exactly does faith work since im new to Gods and Kings

Pariah

Pariah

Frostbyrn wrote:How exactly does faith work since im new to Gods and Kings

Basically, you pick the beliefs, and those effects are conferred on your religion. For example: Fertility Rites. It's a pantheon belief, meaning you get it at the first stage (there are three parts, Pantheon, Religion, and Enhanced Religion). It gives any city that follows that pantheon the effect of a 10% faster food growth. Once you develop your pantheon, you can get a Great Prophet, who can be used to start your religion. Later on, another prophet will enhance it. After this, you can start buying units (missionaries, inquisitors, pre-Industrial military units if you got the Holy Warriors enhancer belief) with faith instead of gold. It's really useful, especially in a circumstance like mine.

A huge part of faith is the passive bonuses. With some beliefs, you can make loads of money (Tithe: +1gpt for every 4 followers) others give culture (Oral Tradition: +1 culture per turn from Plantations). Finally, the Enhancer Beliefs are where it gets interesting. You can get a war based one (Holy Warriors, Just War, Defender of the Faith) that give bonuses to war. Or you can get Religious Texts, Itinerant Preachers, and spread your religion easier.

Frostbyrn

Frostbyrn

Ah yeah ive done all that I started as Byzantine to get a taste for using religions for the first time

What I was really wondering is a couple of things like

What does spreading your Religion to other Civs do?

What does Religious Pressure mean?

Also speaking of Mods I miss that Civ I downloaded whose special was that Ships could move on River tiles

Spreading your religion to other civs applies any benefits your religion confers, and it counts their cities into your religious influence. Basically, Tithe and other per-city or per-follower beliefs will count more followers. Also, any civ following your religion is less likely to attack you.

Religious pressure is tricky. It's basically the amount of influence your religion has on the next citizen being born in a city. More influence = higher chance of more of your religion there.

you could probably run it fine on an AMD APU A-series laptop like a10 5800k,etc.

as for civ 5,I've had it and Gods and Kings for awhile but it confuses me as a whole,if I'm ever not doing anything one of these days we should all play against the cpu Razz

Pariah

Pariah

Kr, I play all the time. If you wanna send me a message, I'm sure we can start up a game.

The Adli Corporation

The Adli Corporation

ill play, after i get shit done. i love the Polynesians and im interested in the Greek, Babylonians and Koreans since they are heavy-science civs. probably stick with Greek since Korea is really weak early game, whereas Greek can turtle hardcore with Hoplites. might try Babylon for the extra enhancer belief, try to get as many science/production bonuses as i can.

Pariah

Pariah

Greece is built exactly for the opposite of turtling. Their hoplites and Unique Ability are basically geared towards early era warfare and conquering. Alexander is truly a dildo when it comes to taking over everyone else.

Korea is the turtling master bro, I'm surprsed you'd be against them. Their science-heavy focus is awesome, but damn, they're so good at holding land.

Byzantium is sorta meh. they're great for cultural/religious though.

Babylon is the true master of science. Always was, always will be.

The Adli Corporation

The Adli Corporation

well i read some guides about Korea online and they said that Korea was vulnerable in early eras.
