I got to shooting my shotgun yesterday, and my friend has been showing me a bunch of decoy videos like this:

He's going to get one of these, so if I can somehow get some money together before the season starts, I'm going to be stoked Very Happy

I remember when I was working out in the mountains I would see wild turkeys on the side of the road all the time. My boss actually hit one once and fucked the headlight on his truck up.

Lol yeah, those birds are crazy. They're bigger than you'd think too.

It's fun Very Happy We were getting my friend's nephew used to the gun he'll be using at the pit to practice yesterday. He was too scared to shoot it for about 15-20 minutes, but we were proud that he eventually did (he's 12-13 I think). We're all nervous that he won't be able to shoot the gun when he has to shoot though, because he didn't want to put another shot through it, lol. He wanted to shoot a 20 gauge, but with the setup my friend's 12 gauge has, it recoils less than the 20 gauge, and that's when it's using turkey loads. That, and we got to enjoy shooting his dad's LCP a few times; I really liked it, even though it has a long trigger pull (that's because it has no safety though).

Ive shot countless pistols, as well as a few AR's

But no shotty

Their recoil is a bit different, it's more of a shove than a snap.

Yea thats what I figured

The most recoil I have ever experienced is from my .357

Yeah, the 12 gauge actually is pretty mild, compared to what most people think it is. The only time it will hurt, is when you're putting turkey rounds through it, and/or 3 1/2" magnum rounds (my friend's dad is a pretty big guy, and he'd come home from goose hunting with bruises when he used them.). I've got to shoot his dad's .44 magnum with really hot, personal defense rounds. Had to shake my hand out after a few cylinders of it. I'm debating between a .357 mag, a .44 mag, or a .45 Long Colt for camping.

I don't think I could ever bring myself to willingly kill anything outside of self defense (obviously barring insects because fuck that.) Nothing against hunting or hunters, though.

I always wanted some more deer tamales after I had one a few years ago lol

Venison is actually pretty good, as is elk, and moose. Wild turkey is good, but they don't have much meat. You wouldn't cook them like a store-bought one, mainly take off the good pieces of meat and tenderize them, then cook them separately

Funny story, a good friend of mine went to Japan once and there was a huntsmen spider in his room. He went out and told them and some lady that worked there went in and then came out screaming about how it bit her.

Turns out they were just messing with him because they deal with them a lot apparently.. He said she was in and out of there pretty quickly and didn't ask about how she got rid of it.

That's enough reason for me to never want to go to Japan.

I actually think that's a pretty funny joke, tbh. I don't think hunstman spiders are very funny though, or any spider really. I'm not scared of them, but I don't like big, ugly ones near my face.

Oh, and now that you mentioned it, I can't say I've killed a spider with a shotgun (if I lived where we had tarantulas, that would be amazing fun, but we don't Sad ), but I enjoy shooting grasshoppers with BB guns so I can feed them to the chickens.
