I was just saying that in NZ only the Hard shell ones are called Tacos.

The Soft ones get called Burritoes

Sort of like how Corndogs are called Hotdogs here and Frankfurters are called American Hotdogs

First of all, a pita with Mediterranean ingredients, is usually just called a pita. What kind of meat goes in one varies, from sausage, pork souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, gyros, hamburger, kebab, chicken and bacon etc.

Here in Greece other usual ingredients for a pita are onions, tomatoes, tzatziki, french fries and occasionally lettuce as well as red chili powder if that's your thing.

Secondly, Sym is correct, gyros comes in all kinds of meat. The term gyros has to do with the way the meat is prepared on a spinning pole. Although, most commonly gyros is pork and chicken.


Third of all, a pita with seftalia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheftalia ) is amazing.

Generally speaking, eating pita bread with meat and vegetables is a thing in the balkans and middle east (think falafel).

I can't make sense of your question with that last spelling error...

As for pitas again, at least here in Greece, they don't go in an oven. you just wrap your ingredients of choice in a pita (which has been grilled, sometimes with a coat of olive oil).

Not many people put olives and feta cheese in a pita, in fact that the first I've ever heard of such a combo. If you lose the meat and actual pita bread and add some cucumbers, oregano and olive oil, you got yourself a classic Greek salad (or "village" salad as it is known here).

They have them at some Greek restaurants here, just called Greek Pizzas. Extremely good stuff, I wish I still lived by the restaurant I used to get them at.

Depends if I'm cooking it or getting it at a restaurant. If I'm cooking it, burgers>pizza>tacos. If its from a restaurant, pizza>burgers>tacos. And on a side note, the Greek food I've tried around here(from 3 different places) has been great, but possibly my favorite food is German...jaeger schnitzel is awesome.

Yes and no.
I'd never eat pita bread on purpose. I've also never tried a gyro simply because I think they smell bad.

When it comes to food your wife is correct. I'm cultureless, but it's on purpose. I also really did contribute to the Soylent kickstarter and should have my first months supply within a few weeks. At that point I'm hoping to cut out eating food almost entirely.
