According to wiki definition, this sounds like it would be an accurate guess.

It looks like such munitions can be dropped free fall or (more preferably) guided in by laser designation.

You can't lock onto infantry, so freefall would need to be practiced to squish those pesky little ants.

recons had a device in BC1 to call down jdams on vehicles.

if anyone isn't aware, the bomb that gets dropped on metro to blow open the tunnel is a JDAM. that's a big fucking bomb.

mind you, the JDAMs in BC1 weren't too bad. mainly just a PitA for tankers, pretty hard to nail infantry with it. the whole jet-dropped thing might give more AoE since its easier to aim a JDAM on foot with a camera than it is from the air at speed.

I hated JDAMs in BC1. Once you heard that beeping you had to do some serious acrobatics to dodge the missile. Like driving forward at full speed, stop short, and shoot your tank cannon while reversing to get an extra boost to dodge at the last second.

And then if they chose to lock onto a different vehicle and steer the thing over to you, you got no warning at all and just get blown up.
