Something that could play BF4 on high at 60 fps

Think I can do it for around $800? I'd like to do it for about that much, but I could go up to $1000 if there's a certain part that's really good that just came out or something.

All I really know is that I an i5 is more cost efficient than an i7 for gaming and i should probably spring for 16gb or ram rather than 8gb because it's not that much more expensive.

No idea what range of graphics card I should get. Maybe AMD if that Mantle API thing takes off, plus BF4 is apparently optimized for AMD over Nvidia.

I don't want/need a titan I don't think, maybe a 560ti or 680 or AMD equivalents. What's good but not overkill right now?

Yeah definitely go i5 for just gaming. 8Gb of ram will be plenty though. I haven't come close to using that while just gaming. Save the extra 50$ bucks and put it into your graphics card. A 7950 would probably do the trick for a GPU. Maybe an R9 270? I think that would be the 7950 equivalent. I'm not sure if the old 7000 series will support mantle or not. You might have to jump up to an R9 series.

Then with the rest just try to get the best components you can with whatever money you have left. Try not to skimp on the PSU too much though. At least get an 80+ bronze certified one.

I think you'll be able to swing that for under 1000$

The only thing I'm really unsure about is power supplies. Do you just add up the power requirements for each component and look for something that supplies at least that?

I'm actually redoing mine completely, on a similar budget. You can do it.

I'm very paranoid about getting too small of power supply, I got a 750w, but on literally every build on gamefaqs they pretty much list the corsair builder 430w as their psu and nobody has came back on there saying it blew up or whatever.

I'd say an i5+7950, if you want the new mantle stuff, get the new 7950 equivalent although I don't see what the big deal with it is. You could save money getting Ivy bridge unless you really want haswell. Could also go cheaper if you don't overclock, although with an i5 you don't even need to, games depend much more on a good gpu.

i5 3570 (get the K version if you wanna overclock) or haswell version -200
h77 board/z77 if you wanna overclock -~ 75-120
500-600w good psu ~75-100
8gb ram - ~70
7950/new gpu ~200 on sale
whatever case you want ~50-100
1tb HDD although 2tb's go on sale alot -60-75-100
an SSD is worth it honestly, I wouldn't go back to just a HDD based system. At least a cheap 120gb for the OS (windows 7/Cool. - 120gb have been on sale for 70-80
I'd say get a cooler master hyper 212 for the silence($30), the intel stock heatsink sounds like an xbox without the game installed lol

the thing that's going to suck is the OS is 100,although I heard schools can get it for you for free through some hoops. Also monitor, keyboard, mouse.

If you need all that, for the budget of 800, probably have to go AMD cpu route

Stop being poor and buy a $1500 laptop.

Are you out of your mind?!?!?!

Its the best thing since sliced bread!

Jokes aside, 780 is better than Titan in almost all situation unless you are doing massive GPU computing (encoding video with Titan is ultra lulzy fast). So, Titan is pretty useless, which makes me a little sad.

New AMD cards are pretty darn amazing. The only problem is that they are way~ too hot.

YEa dont the new cards hit 95c on load?

Fuck that noise

So, now that BF4 is out, what kind of a build would be run it on at least medium settings at a steady, but max 60fps?

Also, opinions on AMD FX8320 and 8350?

JrTapia1991

the 8 core FX 8350 is really good for the money, it keeps up and surpasses the i5 in multi threaded stuff from everything I read, it was the original CPU I was going to get for my pc. The 8320 is just a lower clocked version of it, although the turbo boost puts it to 4.0ghz anyway.

hmmm.... on medium, maybe the cheap 650ti Boost or even hd 7770ghz would do medium around 60, at least above 30. The recommended for the game is only gtx 660/ 7870. I play it on ultra on my hd 7950

here's a vid of this guy playing the beta on the fx 8320 cpu and hd 7770. Hd 7770 is around $100-115, the 7870 which is pretty good is about $150 I've seen before, the 7950 is down to about $200 or lower on sale, the gtx 660 is about $170 or so

although now a days I'd get a card with at least 2gb vram, the 7770 only has 1gb, but on medium that probably wouldn't matter.

You could build a PC for 800 that could play BF4 on medium.high

Ive got a 580 and Im playing at medium with 4x aa and never dip below 60
