But they're still bad Sad

I like how the weapon equipped affects your mobility instead of the weapon you spawn with more than that.

Shotguns aren't bad in this game; you can absolutely rape people with them if you know what you're doing. They're balanced fairly well; only the Olympia is a piece of shit.

Also, I thought that they were more accurate when ADS, but I wasn't quite sure. That's cool, because it makes a little more sense (I guess?)

Or you could use an SMG, rape people at close-range and not be useless when someone is more than 15 feet away.

Because SMG's can instantly kill people right...oh wait...

Or you can use a shotgun that kills much faster and is more effective at close range than an SMG. As we have been saying, it's not hard to stay in close quarters areas, which every map has.

Because you can kill more than one guy with a shotgun, right?

wound wound kill wound *reload* *die*

lol they're so bad.

You apparently haven't used them very much. A SPAS-12 can wipe out a small group of people at close range far more easily than an SMG.

Spas-12 has 8 shots, shoots very fast, reloads fast with Sleight of Hand, and kills in one shot at close range.

Wow one good shotgun in the entire class. That totally redeems the fact that they suck ass and completely lack versatility, as well as the fact that you can spray with any automatic and kill people at close-range with absolutely no difficulty.

Niche use? That doesn't even apply to other guns in the game, why bother with the only weapons class that has one.

And no, I haven't played enough to, guilty as charged. I've been doing yard work most of today.

You should use a gun before deciding it sucks.

I did.

You should do something other than play a round of public before deciding shotguns are good.

lolololololol

I didn't even need to try them to see they sucked. I saw how little range they had and then I saw their complete lack of power. Why would you bother using one.

As if you actually play competitive CoD, and as if CoD takes enough skill to be made into a contest? Not sure if serious...

They have a good range in Black Ops, as well as good power. Only the Olympia just blows.

Though after MW2 I prefer to see them being useless. They provide absolutely nothing other than challenge or novelty, that's my point.

Until they get a wound then they instantly become the worst close-range weapons in the game.

And from my experience with them I get more wounds than one-shot kills unless the other player takes up 140% of my cross hair and he's not attempting to knife me.

^ This.

I'd like to know how Treyarch justifies giving the SPAS, a semi-auto 8 round shotgun more range than the Stakeout, a pump action 4 round shotgun. The Olympia is even worse and then the HS-12 is just lulz. The Olympia should have the range of the MW2 SPAS, the Stakeout should have a little less than that and then the BO SPAS should have range around what the M1014 had. I don't really care about the HS-12, seems like a joke weapon.

While I agree that the HK is a lulz weapon, I say NO! NO! and NOOOOO! to the Olympia having the range of the SPAS from MW2. That thing was OP a shit. The Olympia should have only a little more range, but have A LOT more power per pellet.

The Olympia shouldn't take 3 hits to kill someone too.

There was nothing wrong with the SPAS' range in MW2. It required very good aim to kill with at it's max range. The thing that made it unbalanced was having 8 rounds (16 with the only good attachment for it). Oh, and being a secondary. The Olympia only gets 2 shots and has one long ass reload animation, it should be able to kill at a decent range.

Yeah I used the Olympia pre-set class (the one with SoH) and it still felt like it was taking FOR FUCKING EVER to reload.

I don't hate the HS-whatever, it just seems like such a novelty weapon. Same with the G11, people are freaking out thinking it's going to be OP but it's weak and has a shitty reload time.

The shotguns in this game are a dream come true, someone who LOVE,LOVE LOVE the shotguns from WaW. These shotguns are a dream to use and ADS with shotguns make them better this time?

Link or logic please? Because in WaW it was all about the hipfire.

These shotguns are right where they should be in my opinion. Like I said, they're fine, but they're not underpowered or OP.

How does it take skill to aim the SPAS-12 Ante? Saying the SPAS-12 takes skill to hit some at a range is like saying it takes skill to aim to piss in the toilet. It doesn't, at all. It's very easy.

Have you ever had it split into two beams? Hitting the toilet suddenly becomes difficult.

Also you add difficulty by standing 4 or 5 feet away from the toilet, then you have to lead it slightly and keep the stream pressurized. When it starts to die down it's a guessing game.

BC2 tried to copy too much from CoD; DICE/EA needs to learn that CoD/BF don't mix well. Just look at MoH. >_>

They copied the perk system...that's really it ._.

I don't want to see it return in BF3 though. Also Medal of Honor is not Battlefield.

And low health, underpowered shotguns with buckshot, auto-aim, to name a few.

No, but Medal of Honor is much like a bastard child of CoD and BF; it tries to be both, and fails on all levels.

The only BF game that I played that I actually have liked, and never became extremely angry at so far was 1943, and that was an arcade game, lol.

Nope, there was already specializations in 2142. CoD just took a bunch of Battlefield ideas and made them popular, then BC2 got ripped on for using their own ideas again after CoD popularized them. The one thing BF took from CoD was the in depth customization of guns, but then again Rainbow Six Vegas came up with that before CoD4.

SOCOM had customizable weapons, IIRC, at least I think the second one did. The first one had customizable loadouts, but not weapons.

Buckshot is EXACTLY as strong as it was in BC1, you just don't have 12,000,000 times as much health.

Low health was a feature of every Battlefield game, except BC1 and 1943. Seriously, try BF2. Aim Assist, that's on every console game. It's absent from the PC.

You can not play a shooter game on the console without aim assist. Seriously, the sticks are too clunky. Go betray a teammate in Halo 3 with a gun and just watch how annoyingly difficult it is to aim.

And Medal of Honor existed alongside Battlefield, the differences are hitscan, the lack of MASSIVE FUCKING MAPS and other shit.

There are good Medal of Honor games, and then there's whatever the hell you want to call the current one.

Yeah, well the point is CoD didn't come up with half the stuff people say BC2 copied from it. Most of it was either done before CoD ever did and made into a staple of online FPS or actually done by Battlefield beforehand and brought back.

I never have a problem killing teammates, but they always seem to have trouble killing me. I honestly never have had a problem with it when I want to do it.

MoH tried to be CoD and BF; just look how they tried to make it faster paced, smaller maps, like CoD, but tried to make it like BF, by keeping high health, among other things. It's pretty much the shittiest things from both series, smashed into one game.

42Shotguns Empty Re: Shotguns 2010-11-13, 17:51

Buckshot could one hit kill people more consistently in BC1 than in BC2, even WITH that huge amount of health. Even if not, proportionally being able to kill someone that fast with a shotgun when they have to shoot you a hundred times with an AR makes buckshot less powerful in BC2, where you can kill people super fast with any gun at close range.

BC1 had way more balance. SMGs dominated at close range, shotguns more so, ARs and LMGs were jack of all trade weapons. Reducing the amount of health like they did wasn't really a bad thing, but it seriously destroyed the rock paper scissor system that BC1 had.

You don't get it though. There will never be a console shooter game without aim assist, simply because it seriously makes the game suck.

Also, try betraying with something other than assassinations and explosives.

And high health is not a feature of Battlefield, it's actually a feature of Medal of Honor...I'm not sure if you've actually played a Medal of Honor game, because there is very little copied from Battlefield. What you're arguing are actually 'features' of both games.

Just copied Call of Duty.

He's not talking about Medal of Honor. He's talking about they game they just made which is for some reason named Medal of Honor

It was developed by DICE, who has never really done anything but Battlefield, so obviously some Battlefield ideas are going to sneak in there, and there goal was obviously to make it more like CoD

45Shotguns Empty Re: Shotguns 2010-11-13, 17:55

Yeah, it was made by the BF developing team. That's really the end of the Battlefield similarities, because any other feature of Battlefield is absent.

No travel time, no epic-scale maps. I think vehicles are the only things taken from one over to the other.
