my thoughts on ME2

I was running through some of the old topics and saw a lot of Mass Effect stuff, and I didn't say much since I was still in the middle of playing ME1. Soooooo...(btw, I fully expect the usual crew to jump in on this)

graphics are much smoother, game seems to flow better than ME2

combat is much better, I actually like using the sniper rifle, but don't like the thermal clips

planet exploration is pretty cool, I HATED the Mako it was a #@!$T%#@ version of the warhog, scanning the planet for materials is much better, and much less rage inducing

I'm not overly fond of my teammates, actually that seems to be a continuing issue with RPG's in general. Party members seem flat and uninspired in a lot of RPGs I've played.


WTF: I got the love story with Liara and I can't get her in my party? I'm kinda upset. I wanted Kaiden back too. I do like Garrus though.

The renegade options just don't seem as badass as they were in ME1. I swear I shot more people last time.

With all the barriers I now have a reason to use different powers, but I do miss all the skills, and the healing with medi-gels

Hacking is much more fun.

Weapon system, awesome!!! no massive amount of stuff, but I hate buying fuel and probes.


So far I'm at Horizon, I'm playing as a solider (import from ME1), choosing either renegade or paragon depending on my mood.

You can get Liara in the dlc.

Shadow Broker something or other... been a while since I've looked at it.

I just started playing it last week, I haven't downloaded DLC yet.

Can you start the DLC after you beat everything?

I'm gonna have to download that one since it effects ME3.

Mass Effect 2 was playable after completion of the game (provided Shepard survived) with virtually no issues. The DLC was Lair of the Shadow Broker.

You won't get Kaidan (or Ashley, depending), they pretty much hate you at this point in time, romance or no.

I didn't mind buying fuel and probes, keeps things under a limit (having unlimited probes and fuel sounded silly), plus they were cheap as hell. What I didn't get was why I was allowed to mine virtually every planet in existence, including those held by other races. Should have had to get mining rights or something.

Good game. Played it twice, and have a perfect character for 3.

I really like ME2, I look forward to it everyday I get home from work. (my avatar is my character) Should start the dlc before I finish or after?

I'm probably gonna start another character after this one, I'm just not sure wether I want play ME1 then 2, or just play another character from my import.

Are you a PS3 gamer or did you just get into it late?

Got into it late.... It was one of those games I kept meaning to get, and never did till a few months ago. I'm doing that with Dragon Age now, i want to get it, but I keep putting it off for other games I love.

I picked up both ME1 and ME2 together for like $17.

I was suprised at how much i enjoyed the first game that i couldn't wait to play the second. Carrying over your character is a nice touch as well.

Now i'll end up getting ME3 brand new!!

i loved the first Mass Effect. ME2 was good, but it wasn't as awesome for me as the first, and i couldn't tell you why. i rage quit a few times, but after i got the hang of it i played the shit out of it.

also, Thane is the hotness. just sayin'. i'd be all over that scaly bastard. rooowwwrrr.

I agree heebs!! i enjoyed ME1 more than 2 for the simple leveling up your character stuff.

otherwise the story in ME2 was decent and the game was A LOT prettier!

I didnt preorder ME2 and i regret that. I borrowed it from a friend but i wish i pre ordered it. I will for 3
