I played Brink for a couple hours tonight (online and also doing some challenges to unlock stuff) and it's middle of the road as it stands right now.

In the games I played online I noticed that there's a lot of lag issues even for a peer to peer MP game. It had me teleporting all over the map in a rather annoying fashion. I had to quit out of 5 matches before I finally got one that was playable. The matches are quite fun unless you land in with a group that is trying to play this game like it's BlOps. I watched as quite a few of my medic class teammates ran right by me in half the games I played in.

The parkour (SMART system) could use a little tweaking but it's heading in a nice direction.

The AI on both enemy and ally sides is in need of some massive improvements/balancing.

If the issues are addressed I think this game could really shine.

I'll try to get some more info to you when I'm not so tired... but I do think this game is worth a shot if you enjoy MP games.

The fact that the main complaints for this game are lag and AI is promising, both issues can be fixed with patches.

What is the AI like on the hardest difficulty though? Is it just as bad as on normal?

Anyone else notice when there is less than 2 minutes left on an objective the attacking AI really ramps up. It seems like for the first 8 minutes or w/e they are completely brain dead then the last two minutes tey all charge in a door and kill everything. Laughing

so your saying they are just like most of your normal teammates until the last 2 minutes Razz

after playing for a full day I don't think this game can shine all that much. Its too much about overloading one objective rather than trying to do other objectives to help your team at the main one. The command posts really don't give you that much of an edge so it turns more into a cluster around the main objective which gets boring pretty fast. I'm still gonna give it some more time but the game despite saying there is so much to do really focuses you in on one single thing most of the time.

Also the classes seem to be underpowered besides for class specific objectives. It doesn't matter all that much what class you are in comparison to other class based shooters.

Ouch that doesn't sound good... Expecting my 360 back any minute now.

I'm not saying its terrible I just don't think it will hold my attention for long. I really wanted this to be good too. there is nothing on the horizon for Multiplayer on 360 until Gears of War 3 in September.

The AI on hard is just a pain in the ass. I was going for the three star objective challenge last night and it was just a nightmare. The AI for your allies is abysmal at best. They're not supposed to touch the objectives at all, which is the point of the challenge, but they don't do a very good job at guarding you while you go for them. The enemy AI steamrolls right through your guys with pinpoint accuracy with nearly every shot while allies stand around in what I call "porn star mode" (waiting to take a shot to the face).

Gibbs - I agree. There's no point in going after anything other than the main objective because there's no real incentive to having them other than possibly the exp you can get, which isn't much of a reason.
I also agree with you about classes but I think with some tweaking turrets and other class specific actions might make or break how fun/strategic this game could be. I think turrets, in particular, are too easy to take out and I don't feel they do enough damage because they never feel like a threat when I play.

I've had some fun with this game and I hope the issues are handled eventually. It's not a horrible game, it just has some massive rough edges.

After about an hour of play I put it in the car to be traded in, but since I can't make it to Gamestop today I'll give it another try.

I don't hate it, it just doesn't seem very fun...

The SMARt system. It doesn't work how I thought it would, certainly not how I would have made it.

The sprint button and smart button are the same. However the crouch button will also make you slide low and the jump button will also make you mantle up.

I thought the SMART button would work like Assassins creed: Hold it down to do awesome maneuvers, but instead it still requires multiple presses and be looking in the right direction. The jump/crouch buttons are actually easier to use than the smart button, but then I find myself sliding all around when I just wanted to duck. Or trying to climb onto something only to slide across it and drop back to the floor.

The gameplay seems to devolve into everyone meeting in a fairly enclosed space and just shooting it out toe-to-toe. Repeat.

It doesn't look as good as I thought it would, about equal to Homefront but in confined spaces. It also seems to load the textures in slowly. Not just during cutscenes, but while you're playing. Everything will go fuzzy, then refocus just because you turned a corner. Pretty distracting.

Hmmmm... what else.

Yeah, I kinda thought that the SMART system would function like Assassin's Creed's system as well. Like I said though, with tweaking I think it could be decent. It's a step in a good direction... but it stumbles in execution to a certain extent in many areas.

I hate to say it but I think I'm going to pack Brink up and give it a couple weeks for them to fix it before I throw in the towel and trade it in. After a few more hours with it today, the fun no longer outweighs the headaches.

Ouch. To be honest even though I claimed I was never going to get Brink I was kinda pulling for it to be awesome. The fact is I would like a new game that I really enjoy. I like Homefront but I don't love it like I did BC2.

The problem is Terry. It's gonna be a while til a better game comes out. You can't really have high hopes for any games after BC2. Let alone an FPS.
