I found the whole premise to be very intriguing.

I heard that it's actually pretty bad. I was interested in it for quite some time, but when it came out, all I read were bad reviews. The biggest complaints were a bad game engine, and wonky controls, IIRC.
But I haven't actually played it, so don't rule out a rental.

Though their Taste in Games usually isnt based on Story

It was made by Obsidian if I'm not mistaken. They're doing New Vegas as well, I think.

Played it when it came out, when I was still working at a video store and got rentals for free (gods, I miss that). It sucked. Ehat shut it off after like ten minutes.

The controls were really weird, I think that was the biggest problem. Story seemed pretty interesting, but I couldn't get past the controls.

I heard the story and dialog were excellent, while the gameplay was pretty bad. Sucks, cuz I was excited about this game.

Yeah, what story I got out of it was pretty good. I just couldn't get past the gameplay Is Alpha Protocol any good? Icon_cry But if that doesn't bother you, give it a shot!
