Hardcore is actually easy this time around by using this Cheat/Trick:
"Is there something to prevent us from just taking a backup of the checkpointed save and then, if we die in a hardcore playthrough, we can just quit the game, copy-paste the backup save and play on?"

Sadly this will be possible, on the other hand if we had prevented it we would have had to require a network connection, not a good idea for a mode we intend for people to be able to play in single player.

- Having a Dead Space 2 save file unlocks Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter in bench. This plasma cutter have slight better parameters then the starting one and have all 8 circuit slots unlocked from beginning.
Having a Mass Effect 3 save file unlocks the N7 armor
Finish the game on any mode to unlock four new modes: New game +, Classic, Pure Survival and Hardcore. Dead Space Legends Suit Set is available in the Suit Kiosk for New game+ and previous game only, actually it is the Engineering RIG DS2 model.
New game +: Start a new game with your completed game's inventory and resources. MK-II Overclocked parts and +3 circuits can be found throughout. Can be played at any difficulty level.
Classic: Start a game in the spirit of the original Dead Space. Only classic weapons can be built via blueprints. Co-op play is disabled; Classic aiming is enabled. Difficulty level is hard. Unlocks the Devil Horns.
Pure Survival: Start a new game where resource management is key. Enemies will not drop health or ammo. Everything must be crafted at the bench. Difficulty level is hard. Unlocks the MK-II Overclocked parts set and Mega Resources deposit.
Hardcore: Start a new game that's not for the faint of heart. You must beat the entire game without dying. You can save and continue playing, but death will reset you to the very beginning. Unlocks Retro Mode.
