afro afro afro afro  I really liked Trivium's newest cd,was listening to it the other day

Kyuss Gorguts

The rest, meh. I doubt Carcass will shy away from the melody that defined their last albums.

If only we could have another Symphonies of Sickness.

Have you heard the new Carcass song?

Songs pretty good to me......

I like some melody though.....but I like all different kinds of extreme music.

Trivium, Tool, and my always personal favorite Nine Inch Nails. That's what I'm mainly looking forward to.

Where did you hear that the TOOL album was confirmed for this year? I know they've been recording for awhile but I haven't heard about anything being official yet.

If it's true that would be the one I'm most looking forward to.

Tool is confirmed for 2014 I was wring. Seems Danny Carey got hurt.

Meanwhile Im sorta kinda maybe liking these two new Trivium songs.

Dude I dont know why you hate melody so much. In short spurts it can be fucking epic as all hell in such a diverse genre as metal.

Keyser Söze

Keyser Söze

I don't hate melody, I guess I'm just more eclectic when it comes to it.

When it comes to extreme music, I want to be thinking "that's a mean as fuck riff right there" as oppose to "cool melody". Just me.

Don't get me wring, I dig Necroticism, but it doesn't come close to the glorious stench of evil that Symphonies invokes.

Symphonies is MEAN.

Necroticism is more melodic.

Speaking of Carcass, new song wasn't bad, better than I had expected, still not something I would listen to a lot though.

Keyser Söze

Keyser Söze

I tend to listen to different forms of music than metal when I want melody. Like some good chill out psychedelic trance for instance.

Word

Always wondered about that

Im a big fan of melodic metal, at least what you would consider melodic metal....

Guest

Guest

Trivium is a great example. I know you think the melody in Trivium is cringe worthy, but I really really like it. Granted I have grown as a guitarist with two bands.....DEATH and Trivium so Im a little biased.....but the shit is solid. IMO

MELODY MELODY MELODY

Ahhh, see...

I can't stand Death after Human. Bores me to tears.

Nah, more

Spiritual Healing>Human> Leprosy>Scream Bloody Gore

I also hold Death greatly responsible for the evolution of melodic death metal and I hate that shit.

Guest

Yea I know you do

Its not there fault they were 20 years ahead of their time.

Death was really one man, Chuck.

His style of guitar playing has inspired me greatly in my life.

Also I cant believe I forgot about Spiritual Healing. My revised list

SOP/ SH/ Symbolic>Human> Leprosy> Scream Bloody Gore> ITP

Keyser Söze

I don't hold it against them, I just don't care much for Death after Human.

And yeah, Chuck was the man!

Even though late Death is pretty melodic, its also quite brutal and technical.

I also greatly enjoy melody in my metal. I feel it just ties everything together nicely.

you didn't like their new cd? :~:

I was expecting more hard stuff with Jesse coming back tbh

Guest

I dont like Killswitch Engage period. To much crooning, too much melody, just everything.

Not a fan at all, pure metal core. Meh

Guest

Guest

ALso I kinda sorta, maybe possibly like the first album, but everything after that was trash imo

JrTapia1991

JrTapia1991

yeah I like the first one the best, alot of bands really, they started cool then lately bleh lol

Also KE went mainstream, and fuck bands that change their sound to go mainstream.

Trivium is a whole different beast. They have more talent than KE could dream for. Trivium just irritates alot of people for various reasons. Ive been a fan since Ember to Inferno and find it funny how many fans they have now. They used to be pretty unknown until recently. As a musician I appreciate them on a different level, as they are insanely talented. And dont play in 4/4.

New Soulfy song

I like it, nothing amazing, but pretty solid.

Also a new Ayreon album this year which I'm excited for. Not sure if anyone else cares for cheesy prog metal like that though.

Yeah Shpongle never disappoints.

Still haven't had time to listen to the whole thing yet but my physical CD just shipped.

I downloaded it, sat comfortably in my speaker sweet spot, rolled some awesome hash I had at the time and blastoff!

The closest Ill go anything power metaly is 3 inches of blood

I like some power metal as long as they don't use a whole lot of major keys or chord progressions all the time. Metal shouldn't be that happy in my book.

Pretty sick live video from Wacken. The sound kinda sucks though. Fast forward to 17 mins for the new song.Strife is at 29 mins.

And yes metal should not be happy, happy metal is fake metal.

Yeah 3IOB are solid. I've seen them live like 3 times or so. Their new album is actually pretty good. The one before that was pretty meh so I wasn't expecting much from the new one but I was pleasantly surprised.
